Stone Tears: A Sailor Moon Fanfic

Part 2: Of Flame and Fire

This is a dream. Lita just kept telling herself, Wake up! She just couldn’t believe all that happened. The pie episode, the common interest, and the big unbelievable... The Talking Tree. This was all too weird. Could it be the Negaverse? No, it couldn’t be. Asami was just too nice. She scolded herself for even thinking that. But could she?

They had talked the whole day. It was 5:00 when Asami’s father entered the room as Lita and Asami were joking and laughing.
“Now, what’s so funny?” Asami’s father smiled. He was happy that Asami was having fun again.
“Oh, Hi dad. This is my new friend Lita.” She pointed to Lita.
Lita stood to meet her father. She extended her arm to shake his hand, “It’s nice to meet you.” She said as Asami’s father shook her hand, “Asami has said a lot about you.”
“Thank you, It’s nice to meet you too.” He smiled back at Lita, “I’m sorry, I’d love to talk with you two but I’ve got to get some sketches done for the new Star Tower.”
“Wow! You’re going to design the new Star Tower?” Lita ask with a spark of interest in her voice.
“Yeah, That’s why Asami and I moved here.”
“Wow! Way cool!” Lita looked at her watch, “I think I better go. It’s 5:30. I really over stayed my welcome.”
“No, not at all. I enjoyed your company.” Asami said through a smile.
“Thank you, but I really must be getting home, thank you for your hospitality.” Lita bowed and started for the door.
Asami followed her to the door, “Your welcome, please, if you ever want to come over, just come. No problem at all.”
Lita smiled, and headed for her apartment. Lita.... There! That strange voice again... Lita turned her head towards Asami, and just bowed once again. And started to walk once again.
Asami bowed in return to the gesture. Asami! No, not again! Now what?! She watch Lita leave and just walked back into the house. She started for the kitchen so she could make a meal for her father. She poured a cup of tea, put a bowl of rice and leftover Sukiyaki on a tray and headed up the stairs to her father’s office. Asami! Help! What?! She stumbled and almost dropped the tray. “What do you want from me?!” She yelled. No, she couldn’t lose it now, she would settle it later. She picked her self up and walked to her father’s work room.
“Thanks.” Her father said as he sipped his tea, “You should eat too.”
“Okay.” Asami walked out of her father’s work room and headed down the stairs. She passed that window again. She stared at the tree once again. Help... Help? Help what? Asami thought about it. The best thing to do was analyze the problem, in this case the tree. She took her sketch pad and started to draw the tree. Detail by detail. It was 10:30 PM by the time she finished. Now what?

Serena was in her room staring at the Moon and stars. She just couldn’t get her mind off of what had happened today. She had met a great new friend, but her friend was in so much pain. It wasn’t fair.
“Serena? You should be sleeping by now.” Luna said with a little worry in her voice.
	“I can’t Luna.”
	“Well why not?”
“Because she’s thinking of how much pounds she’s going to eat tomorrow!” Rini said as she laugh at Serena, but then she stopped. Serena didn’t even flinch at the remark, “What’s a matter Serena?”
“Oh, It isn’t fair. Why does all the bad stuff go to good people?” Serena sobbed.
“What? Did something happen with Darien again?” Luna asked.
“He didn’t dump you again? Did he?” Rini’s eyes were filled with worry.
	“No, It’s not him.”
“What then? Come on! Out with it.” Luna nagged as she popped on the bed and sat next to Serena.
“I met a new friend, Asami.”
“Yay! Can I meet her too?” Rini said as she smiled and clapped her hands.
“But her mom died. And she’s really torn up about it.” Serena sighed.
	“That’s terrible.” Luna sniffled.
“Yeah, I know. I wish I could help her, but I think she thinks she has to deal with it herself. She blames herself for her mom’s death.”
Rini was slightly in tears, “But it isn’t, is it? I mean it isn’t her fault right?”
	“Of course not!”
“Well you’ve got to help her!” Luna lectured, “You’re her friend.”
Serena crossed her arms, leaned them on the windowsill, and put her head on them, “I’ll try, but I don’t know if it will help.”
Rini and Luna went to sleep. Serena got under sheets, and looked to her moon, “I’ll try Asami. I’ll try.”

	“Lita, You’re my best friend.”
“You’re my best friend too.” It’s me... but who is that?
The ground it’s .... rumbling... What? What’s going on?! “Help! Attack! The Negaverse is attacking! RUN!” The blurred face yelled... a rougher voice.
“Run sweeties, run as fast as you can! Don’t look back...” No.... what’s happening?
“No don’t go! Mother!!! No!!!! AHHHHHHH.........”
Lita woke up from her tormenting dream in a cold sweat. She sat up in her bed, panting, trying to clam down and catch her breath. Slowly her breath was steadying. Her head hurt, those images were so unclear. She couldn’t see them. She kept replaying the dream over and over her head. She got up from her bed. Dragging her feet across the carpet, she got a glass of water from the kitchen. Sipping a bit, she walked over to the window overlooking Asami’s house. Was she really from the Negaverse? No... It couldn’t be... It just couldn’t be. She was just too nice. She was a friend not foe. But... Katsy was nice to Serena and Rei, and she was from the Negaverse. I guess, even though they are from the Negaverse, they can still act! No... How could she think such a thing after Asami was such a great friend? “Errr... There’s something wrong... I know it!” She said as she hit the wall with her fist. She glanced at the window... Asami?

Asami had gone to sleep. It was too late to be dealing with something from... where ever the hell it came from. Her head hurt and her stomach turned. The day hadn’t gone too bad though. She had made new friends and she got to enjoy life for a change. But that meeting with Lita got her spooked up. She felt like she knew her. In fact, whenever Lita said something, sometimes, she could finish what she was saying. Don’t get her wrong, she liked Lita. She was a good friend.
Slowly she fell asleep to the lullaby of the trees. The gentle breezes made the grass sway and shimmer as if they were dancing to the rustling of the trees.
	“Asami... Are you there?”
	“Yes... I am here.”
	“Come... come Asami.”
Slowly Asami got out of bed, as if she were in a trance, I take that back, she was in a trance. Slowly as she walked down the corridor, outside of her room, her Pajamas turned into a glittering, velvet, white, robe. The hood was drawn over her head. The robe was detailed so finely. Patterns were woven all around the edges of the robe. It was something out of a dream.
She had stopped walking. She was in front of the tree. Still asleep, she lowered the hood down to her shoulders. Her amber eyes twinkling in the moonlight, Her hair whipping around her.
	“Asami... Help me..”
Asami smiled, “Do not fool me. Alchemy. Stop fooling around.”
“Asami.. This is... AH Damn. I could never fool you could I?”
Asami giggled again, “Welcome back old friend.” She gestured with her hand and the tree disappeared. In it’s place, a little tan cat appeared. This was not an ordinary cat, It had wings outstretched, each wing was about a foot long and it resembled a fairy’s wing. He fluttered up to Asami’s shoulder and perched himself there.
“Welcome back old friend. How does it feel to get out of the tree?”
“It feels so great to be in my old body.” He purred and stretched his legs, “What took you so long to get your memory back?”
“Ah... Well... I still haven’t gotten it quite yet...”
“What?!?!?! I did all that talking from this stupid tree for nothing!”
“Well... my mortal self still doesn’t know.”
“Why not? I did the talking... shouldn’t that be enough? I mean my voice is not common.”
“Well, Lita and I must find out our selves, It’s part of the prophecy.”
“I’m not going back into that tree... You.. you can’t make me!”
“Oh Kemy... You’re such a sissy! I won’t. But you’ve got to behave and do your part.”
“Sure thing. Don’t call me Kemy... It’s Alchemy... It sounds like you’re calling me a girl! So what do I have to do?”
“Help Lita and I regain my memory.”
“Sure I’ll just tell you two...”
“NO! You mustn’t tell us. We have to find out by ourselves! Just... Help.. a LITTLE.”
	“Okay...”
“So keep a low profile... you know... No wings. And act like a cat. And check out the Sailor Scouts. We know that Lita is Sailor Jupiter, but we’ve got to find the others.”
“No wings? Act like...a... CAT?! Errrr.... I don’t like this...”
	“Kemy.. Come on! You’ve... Ahhh...”
	“Sami? You okay?”
“I’m...waking...up... Just do.... what I told you...”
Slowly her white robe disappeared, leaving her with her Pajamas again. Alchemy quickly dodged into the bush. Asami woke up on the ground, shivering in the wind, “How did I get here?” Suddenly Asami heard a faint sound, and there appeared Alchemy, without the wings, “Where did you come from?” She scooped him up and went back to her room.
“Meow!” Alchemy purred as Asami put him on her bed. Act like a cat. Be the cat. You are the cat. He kept telling himself.
“You’re so cute. What’s your name?” Asami said as she stroked his fur, “How about... Fuku-Fuku?” She laughed.
Hell no! Asami, if you call me Fuku-Fuku... You gonna pay! Alchemy thought.
“No,” She giggled, “Fuku-Fuku isn’t a strong name for a tough cat like you. How about... Yama?”
	No...
“Yes... after all you are as strong as a mountain.”
	Please... no...
	“Don’t you agree?”
Ahhh... No! No! Yama, I mean Alchemy, was just about to talk, No... Be the cat. It’s only a little while... Heh..heh.. Only a little while.. he reminded herself.
They fell asleep. Alchemy, was left to sleep on the floor. While Asami slept on the bed. Asami... When you get your memory back, you owe me... Big time! He told himself. He could just imagine Asami saying, “Don’t be sissy. Hey, at lease I didn’t call you Fuku-Fuku.”

Lita couldn’t believe her eyes. Asami, had changed. She had powers! Sweet innocent Asami? She seemed so urbane. Now could she be part of the Negaverse? She looked at the changed Asami. Does this answer your question? she asked herself.
Lita grabbed her communicator from her jacket pocket, Flipped it open, and started to call Amy. No, She slammed the communicator shut. She wasn’t sure that she was from the Negaverse. How else would you explain it? She denied her little voice inside her, and walked over to Asami’s house. The wind made her untied, amber hair, dance. She hid in the bushes, next to where the tree that had talked to her. By the time she hid Asami had changed back. Asami fell to the ground, her body lifeless. Lita wanted to help her, the urge was strong, but she had to find out.
Slowly she saw Asami wake up. Asami said, “How did I get here?” Lita thought to herself, That’s what I would like to know. “Meow.” The little sound almost made Lita jump. Out jumped a little tan cat. He looked a little like Luna and Artemis. But his tail was different. Hit ended with a ball of fuzz at the end. Asami had picked him up and brought him inside. She quickly crawled to the window in Asami’s room. She peaked into the room. She couldn’t hear anything, but she knew it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. The lights had gone out in the room.
Lita walked back to her apartment, not knowing what to think. This was too odd. She walked up to her door, she pounded her hand against the door. “I’ve got to talk with her... But how?” She leaned against the door, slowly siding down against it till she was sitting against the door.
Suddenly... FLASH “Lita come on!” Mother?
“No, Mother! We’ve got to go back!” Lita yelled as her mother dragged her away from a portal.
	“Please Lita!”
	“No! Asami!”
	FLASH
Ahh... Lita’s head hurt again. The images, they had shown her mother. Her mother from her past. And she had said Asami’s name. Slowly Lita got up from the ground and went back into the apartment. She looked at her bed, than sat at the edge of the bed, and stuffed her face into her hands. What to do... what to do? There’s was only one thing she could do. Tell the Sailor Scouts, after all, the negaverse was involved...

Mina had gotten up at 6:00 AM today. She was getting bad vibes, but nothing really dangerous. She got dressed, putting on her head and arm bands on. She got on her sweatshirt and sweatpants, and laced up her shoes and jogged out the door.
She jogged down the quiet neighborhood streets. Breathing the crisp, new, refreshing air, and enjoying the half risen sun. Slowly she started to enter the busy city. Not as busy as it was at say, may 7:00 or 8:00. But busy enough for Mina to jog a little slower. As she crossed the bridge, she saw Darien. Darien was stretching a little and jogging in place at the bridge.
“Hey Darien!” Mina yelled as she smiled and waved her arm.
“Hi Mina!” he shouted as he slowly started to jog towards her, “Why are you jogging?”
“No reason really. I just got a bad vibe. I needed to shake it off.”
“Tell me about it. I’ve been having the same feeling.” he uttered suspiciously.
“You think it’s the Negaverse? We haven’t seen them in a while. Not after Rubeus and all.” slight disgust in her voice.
	“Don’t know...”
“Hey guys!” Amy cut off Darien. She was running after them apparently. She was being bothered by the same thing, “Don’t tell me you’ve been getting Nega-Energy.” She panted.
“Yeah... There’s something going on. We should call a meeting.” Mina said.
“Already done. Rei’s going to do a fire reading up at the temple.” Amy said as she wiped the sweat from her brow, “I tried to get in touch with Serena, but she wasn’t home.”
“Don’t you mean she was sleeping?” Mina laughed.
“No... her mom said that she was up from 6:00 and she left just a little while ago.” Amy murmured.
“That isn’t like my Meatball head. Something must be up. Serena wouldn’t just take off at 6:00 to just anywhere.” Darien stuttered looking a bit scared.

“Fire of Mars, show me the face of the new Negaverse terror!” Rei sat there, waiting for the fire to respond to her. But nothing happened. Rei scratched her head and looked at the fire once more. Not even a sign, “What?! I don’t get it? If it’s not the Negaverse what was it?”
“Hey Rei. I got your message. Where’s the others?” Lita walked in. She looked terrible. Her hair was a mess, her eyes were blood shot, and she looked as if she were going to fall, flat face, sleeping.
“They’ll be here. Amy went to get them. But... what happened to you?” Rei asked.
“It’s better if we wait for the others. I’ll tell everything then.” Lita sat down, her hands on the ground with her head sinking low.
In walked Amy, and Mina. They all were sweaty. They looked at the half-dead, half-alive, Lita.
“Lita?” Mina asked. Not sure of the figure in front of her.
“Yeah.” She responded, not even looking up.
Amy walked over to her a put her hand on her shoulder, “Lita... you all right?” Lita looked up into Amy’s deep blue eyes and broke down in tears. It was one of those rare moments in her life that she cried. Probably the only time she really did cry was when her parents had died in the plane crash. They didn’t ask what happened. All of Lita’s tears made them fall silent. The only sound that was heard was the sound of the fire crackling.

Serena, Rini, Luna, and Artemis, had gotten up at 6:00 also. They all felt sorry for Asami, and wanted to help, so Serena decided to go over there.
“Serena! She probably isn’t even up yet!” Luna yawned.
“Well I couldn’t get my beauty rest!”
“It looks to me that you haven’t gotten your beauty rest in a couple of years.” Rini smirked.
“Be quiet you little brat!” Serena snapped. Serena peaked in the house. No one appeared to be home. She knocked on the door, but no one answered.
“Okay... no one’s home. Let’s go home.” Artemis wined.
“No, I know she’s home. Besides I have to talk to her.” Serena said as she turned away from the door.
“How do you know she’s home? She’s probably hiding, worrying about a clutz attack from you.” Artemis said as he jump on Serena’s shoulders to rest.
“Humph!” Serena uttered as she shrugged the lazy cat off her shoulder, knocking Artemis to the ground with a big thump.
	“Hey there Meatball head!”
Serena knew who the voice belonged to. She ran over to her love’s arms and gave a tight hug, “Hi Muffin!”
Darien wrapped his arms around his princess, returning the warm gesture. The wind blew, breaking a tiny pink blossom off a tree. Darien looked at it as it drifted. He took it, as if he himself planned that to happen, and placed it in one of the blonde meatballs. Slowly he lifted her chin, slightly bend his neck, looked into her sparkling blue eyes. He stroked her cheek slowly with his finger. Her skin was so soft... It felt like silk... no satin. Finally he embraced her with his lips. The moment seem to freeze for the two of them. Everything around them seem to stop in midair. Then the moment ended. The world came back to them.
“If you two are done... *Yawn* I’d like to go home and sleep!” Luna said as she eyed the two love birds.
“You said it Luna.” Artemis yawned.
Darien noticed the crowd. Luna, Artemis, and Rini. “Heh..heh..” He said as he blushed.
“Yeah Darien! Take me to breakfast!” Rini said as she tugged on his sweatshirt.
“Rini we can’t we’ve got a meeting to go to.” He said softly as she pick up Rini and put her on his shoulders.
“Oh, why Muffin? Is it the Negaverse again?” Serena said as she slipped her hand into her his.
	“Well we don’t know...”
“Well come on then. Let’s find out!” Luna yelled as she ran across to the temple.

“Lita. I think you should get some sleep. I think you’ll feel better.” Rei said, trying to soothe her.
	“No, I’m fine.”
“I agree with Rei. You look terrible.” Amy worried.
Mina look at Amy, “Yeah, you’re going to make yourself sick.”
	“I’m fine!” Lita snapped.
At the same time Darien with Rini perched up on his shoulders, Serena, Luna and Artemis walked in. Serena saw the hunch over figure before her, “Lita!” She yelled as she rushed over to give her friend a hug.
“Oh my gosh. What happened?” Darien said as he placed Rini down.
“Okay. Now that everyone is here, I think it’s time to answer everyone’s question.”

	KNOCK KNOCK
Someone was at the door, but she was too lazy to get up. She call for her father but the knocking persisted. He’s all ready left. She slowly got up from her bed. Undressed and redressed into a new change of clothes. She stroked the sleeping cat on the floor. Instantly Alchemy awoke. He followed Asami to the front door. Suddenly she stopped.
	“Hi Muffin!”
Asami saw the two lovers in front of her as they shared a tender moment. Asami fell silent as the two intertwined. She watched them go to the temple. Suddenly Alchemy dashed to the temple.
“Yama!” She yelled as she dashed after the cat.
Alchemy stopped in front of the room the two lovers had gone into. Suddenly Asami snatched him up.
“Ha! I caught you. You little rascal.”
“Okay. Now that everyone is here, I think it’s time to answer everyone’s question.” Lita?
She hated sneaking like this but she saw how all her new friends were worried, and how Lita looked bad. She couldn’t control herself. It was like she was begin controlled by some strange force. She peaked into the room and waited. Taking in everything.

“What is it? Is it the Negaverse?” Rini said.
“I don’t know.” Lita said, “Rei try a fire reading.”
	“I have, but nothing happened.”
	“Try again.”
“Great fire, Show me the new Nega....”
“No... don’t say Nega threat. It may not be the Negaverse.” Lita remarked.
“Great fire. Show me who is troubling us. Show us the face of this energy.”
In an instant the flame rose high up. The fire took a shape of a star, then suddenly it started to swirl. Faster and faster. Creating a great whirlpool. Slowly it started to suck Lita in.
“No! Mars fire control what’s in you!” Rei shouted as she took a parchment within her hand, “Contain the fury within the fire!” She through the parchment in the fire. At once the fire stopped. Dropping Lita on top of Luna.
	“Yeow!” Luna cried.
The fire rose up again, but instead of the whirlpool, the fire gleamed showing a distorted figure. Slowly it came into focus. They all gasped. Lita gleamed into the fire. She gleamed into the face.
