Pure Reflection

http://chuchu.nu/ami/

Pure Reflection is a shrine site dedicated to the serene Sailor of water, Sailor Mercury, and this site does a grand job of presenting materials about Sailor Mercury in a fun and entertaining manner.

The site loads quite quickly for the amount of complexity that is there, and initially, I was surprised in that it looked as though only half of the page was being used. In reality, the left side of the screen is the target for the site's menu-driven system. When you click on a link, the material appears on the left side of the screen. It is a neat trick.

Of course, being a site dedicated to Sailor Mercury, there is a lot of BLUE. However, while the images are well-done, and nicely arranged, the web mistress does not attempt to overawe the user with the amount of graphics she can cram into a screen. The effect is a nice, blue-based site that is easy on the eyes and concentrates the user on the content.

And there is a LOT of content. There is a lot of information about Sailor Mercury and Mizuno Ami, and one of the neat things I found was that the web mistress interspersed her own opinions within the information. Normally people tend to try to pass off their opinions as facts, and they mess it up, but in this case the tone of the text makes it seem more as though she is conversing with you, and I know most people throw opinions in with their facts when they talk, and what I saw was an impressive way to make her opinions and the facts attractive to the reader.

One other thing I noticed that the web mistress did not do...she did not overplay Mercury's good points. Sometimes you'll get that in a shrine. They go on and on into infinity about how cool their character is until you almost don't want to see them on the TV screen. Not so here. In several places, the web mistress makes note of where Sailor Mercury is not the best character, not the strongest, not the most aggressive, or some other weak point. However, she makes it a point to weave these things into the whole of the person that is Mizuno Ami. Just as we are all made up of strong and weak points woven together.

Pure Reflection also maintains a nice image gallery. The images are well-arranged, and some of them are ones I have not seen around the rest of the SM community. The credits mention some picture editing.

Pure Reflection also has a bunch of fun stuff, including wallpapers, a postcard shop, some games, and a message board (shared among a few Mercury sites, this message board is a really nice place to hang out and meet people).

If you check out the poetry/fanart section entitled "Blue Angel", get ready for a shock. The light blue of the site is replaced by a black-based site with a negative-ized image of Amy off to one side. This area of the site may be a bit older than the rest and seems to be a bit off the beaten path as far as site management goes. My terminal had a bit of a problem loading the pages, and I started noticing longer load times.

The fanart was pretty good, and I am hard to please when it comes to fanart.

So, if you have some time, and would like to check out a nice site dedicated to Sailor Mercury and Mizuno Ami, bookmark Pure Reflection.
