The echoing of footsteps could be heard in the dark
alley as the young man walked through it. He tried his
best to make as little noise as possible, but that was
hard due to the tall buildings on either side. Hoping
that he was clear of this street gang, Dunican made it
to the end of the alley but then heard, "There he is!
Get him!" Turning to look to his right, Dunican broke
out into a run and into the park. "I hope I can get
rid of these guys," he said to himself jumped a bush.
Lady Gaia sat under a tree in the park dressed in a
simple white sun dress with her hair flowing around
her. She let out a small high pitched shriek as
someone jumped out in front of her.
Minako walked through the park, soaking in the warm
sun. *What a beautiful day....* she thought happily,
inhaling the sweet air. But her bliss was disturbed
by a shrill shriek she heard in the distance. Without
a second thought, Minako started running towards the
sound.
Dunican looked at the woman who shrieked out and
then looked up to find one the punks right in front of
him. Taking a quick side step, he threw his knee into
the punks stomach and sent him back. *Just want I
need. I hope they don't go after her,* he thought and
elbowed another punk in the face, sending him into the
bushes. *Damn! Out numbered! This is bad.*
Bentaris suddenly watched as a view portal appeared
in front of him revealing the scene in the park.
"They dare to battle by the woman I love?" With a
quick thought his armor vanished leaving the form of
Jubei behind and teleported to behind the punks, his
elbows flying to two goons' skulls and sending them
realign to the ground. "This is over."
Dunican looked at Bentaris. *No! Not again!* his
mind yelled and he took off the other way. As he ran
he keep looking behind him when he suddenly ran into
something and he fell back onto his rear. "Ow!" he
said and looked at the person her ran into. For some
reason he knew her from somewhere. He studied her for
a few moments. The long blonde her and the red bow.
"I'm sorry. That was my fault," he said and got up
and gave his hand to her.
Minako reeled from the impact, taken totally by
surprise. She shook her head and looked at the hand
extended towards her. Grasping it tightly, she pulled
herself up to her feet and brushed herself off. "Oh
no, it's quite all right. I wasn't watching were I
was going..." Minako said. "But what were you running
from?"
"I was running from a street gang," he said, and
looked over his shoulder. "Then I nearly ran into a
woman sitting under tree, then I was attacked, then
some other guy came out of nowhere and attacked the
gang. Getting attacked for the third time today is
starting to get to me," he said and looked at Minako.
*She seems very familiar to me,* he thought.
"Come on," he said and glanced towards the exit of
the park. "Lets get out of here before they came back.
Oh, my name is Dunican," he said as he started out
towards the exit.
Minako blinked and followed Dunican quickly,
forgetting about the street mob. There was something
very familiar about him, and she was curious to know
what it was. "My name is Minako. I haven't seen you
around before. Are you new in Tokyo?" she asked,
walking by his side.
"Bentaris!" Gaia shouted happily as he appeared
before her. "I didn't even notice they had come upon
me... they just... appeared. Are you all right?" she
asked worriedly.
Bentaris smiled at Gaia. "I am fine, love. It is
ok, thugs have a habit of doing such things."
"Yeah. I moved here a few weeks but I don't know
a
lot about this place to go anywhere or find anything
to do," Dunican explained. "So I came outside to find
a park or something to relax and I ended up getting
chased, nearly robbed and nearly beaten up by a street
gang."
He looked at Minako for a few seconds. *Strange,
I
am nervous around new people at first, but I can talk
to Minako with a problem,* he thought.
"Wow," Minako said, looking back to see if the gang
was still there. "There have been many gang attacks
lately; it's like the underworld rules Tokyo now."
Her voice grew softer at the end, as if trying to hide
it. *And it's a real pain in my butt to fight them
all,* she thought bitterly.
Dunican stopped at the corner of the street and
waited for the light to change. He then turned to
Minako and looked at her for a few more seconds. "For
more reason, I feel something will happen soon and I
know I will be getting involved," he said and looked
down at a newspaper that was at his feet. "I came
here to find someone." He picked up the paper and
looked the picture. "I think her name was Sailor V,"
he said softly.
Minako's eyes widened at Dunican's words. *Why
would he be looking for me?!* she thought, biting her
lip. "Oh really? Ehehe, hasn't Sailor V dissapeared?
I thought she was defeated a while ago..." Minako
asked, rubbing the back of her head.
Gaia rested her head on Bentaris's shoulder.
"Please... can we go home. I think I've had enough
fresh air for today," she said softly to him, her
heart pounding fast inside her chest.
Bentaris nodded, holding her lightly, "Of course."
With a mere thought he focused his energies, returning
them to the chambers Bentaris had created millennia
ago, tucked safely away in a small pocket dimension.
Dunican looked at Minako again. "I don't think she
has," he said and folded the picture and placed it in
his pocket. "I heard rumors that there are some new
Senshi around Tokyo and one of them is named Sailor
Venus and for some reason I have to find her." He
looked down. "I have been having dreams lately," he
explained.
The color of Minako's face drained for a split
second, leaving her as white as a sheet. Dreams
always meant something; it's the way everything turns
out. Besides, that would explain her strange feeling
about him. *I need to find out some more
information....* she thought. "Well, care to describe
these dreams over some cocoa? I've seen Sailor Venus
in action once, and I'm curious," Minako said,
pointing towards a little corner cafe.
"Sure," he said in a small voice and the two headed
to the cafe. A few minutes later they were sitting
down and Dunican looked at Minako for a few seconds.
"The dreams started when I was 10, after I was saved
by my guardian. In my dreams I saw things that looked
they came out of Medieval times. But this wasn't on
Earth. It was on another planet. I don't know what
planet that was," he said and paused as he took a sip
of his drink. "It was me, I mean I was doing
something important. Now that I can recall all my
dreams. I was protecting someone important, a princess
and I am looking for Sailor Venus is because she looks
like her and so I want to know my past," explained
Dunican.
Minako sipped her cocoa, listening intently to
Dunican's story. It all made perfect sense, of
course. She even remembered him now, vaguely. *He
couldn't have made that up, it's too close to my
history...* she thought. Nodding slowly, Minako ran
her finger around
the inside of her mug. "If only you knew the half of
it..." she whispered, hardly noticing her own words.
Dunican looked at Minako when she said something
softly. *What did she just say?* he thought. Dunican
then rested his head on his arms that were laying on
the table. In a soft voice he said, "I am also
looking for my father as well." His eyes saddened a
bit when he said this.
Minako stared at Dunican, her mood quickly
changing. "Oh, I'm sorry, what happened?" she asked,
quickly realizing her mistake. "I mean... err... um,
if your willing to share..." she added, looking down
at her mug.
Dunican looked at Minako and smiled softly. "I
don't mind," he said and looked around once. "My
mother died when she had me. So I was taken to my
aunts and uncles house and they took care of me. I
didn't know who my father was and they never talked
about him. I thought he died or something but I had
to find him. But then I ran away from home because my
guardians never looked after me. So know I live with
Master Kane," he said. "But looking for my father is
what my mission is in life."
Minako nodded, feeling a little relieved. "Ah, so
you live by yourself? So do I, here at least. My
parents are back in England and I moved here not
long.... ago..." she talked softly at the end, seeing
how INCREDIBLY obviously she'd matched stories with
Sailor V. Biting her lip, Minako just smiled
sheepishly, pretending nothing happened.
"Yeah I live by myself but I live right above the
Karate dojo on 8th and Rose Street. My guardian pays
for my rent. He says that living on my own will help
me be a man," said Dunican as he stood proud and
smiled. Then he took a sip from his mug. "You know I
never done that before with anyone. I told you about
my past which I have never done with anyone else," he
said softly. "But for some reason I had to tell
someone," he said very softly.
"Well, sometimes you need to get things off of your
chest," Minako said, shrugging. "I don't know why you
would choose me, but whatever works." She finished
her coacoa and dug deep into her purse for her wallet.
"But your story is very interesting, sounds almost
like a fairy tale..." she added, digging deeper.
Dunican picked his head up. "Keep your money," he
said took out some money and placed it on the table.
"This one is on me. Thank you for listening Minako,"
he said with a smile.
About three blocks from the cafe, a sharp scream
was heard. A large youma with eight arms, was on a
rampage sucking energy from humans and then leaving
them to die in the street. "Energy...Energy." it said
over and over.
Dunican got up got of his chair and looked around.
"I heard someone scream," he said to Minako and looked
to see in the distance people screaming and running
away. Suddenly Dunican took off into a run towards
the area of the attacks. He didn't know why he was
doing this.
Cursing under her breath, Minako ducked into an
alley. *Damn, just what I need. And Dunican isn't
helping, though this may prove my theory,* she
thought, pulling out her henshin pen. "Venus Power,
Make-Up!" she called, quickly transforming. With out
hesitation,
Venus jumped up onto the building next to her and took
off towards the youma.
Dunican finally made it to where the attacks.
Stopping, he watched as several people were being
attacked by the youma. *I have to do something.* He
thought and picked up a broken bottle. Seeing that
the youma back was turned, Dunican threw the bottle
and it hit the youma and the thing turned and dropped
the people. The youma then roared and started to run
at Dunican. *Great! I got it's attention... now
what?*
Venus flew from the top of the building, landing in
front of Dunican. "Get out of here, now!" she yelled
over her shoulder, facing the charging youma. She
really hated fighting youma by herself, but there was
no way to contact anyone else. "Venus Cresent Beam!"
The yellow ray of energy jumped from her finger,
slamming into the monster's head.
The youma roared and absorbed the engery, then grew
twice the size it was before. It roared again and
slammed its fist towards Sailor Venus.
Dunican realized who was in front of him. He
stared at the Senshi in front of him. "Sailor Venus,"
he said softly. He had dreamed of meeting her from
some time and wanted to fight along side her. Now was
his chance. "I am not leaving you here alone, not
without
backup," he said.
Venus glanced over her shoulder, not believing what
he was saying. She was about to say something, the
youma's fist slammed into her. She went flying half
way across the street, landing in the middle of the
road. The youma grinned evilly as Venus struggled to
get up, and turned its back to Dunican, licking its
lips.
"Sailor Venus!" yelled Dunican. Looking around
Dunican found a metal pole on the ground and picked it
up. Feeling the balance of the pole Dunican charged
the youma. Jumping into the air Dunican raised the
pole into the air and landed a blow to the youma neck.
"Leave her alone!" he snapped.
The youma spun around quickly, growling at Dunican.
"I'll silence your flapping lips, human! Your energy
is mine..." it hissed, raising it's large hand to
strike. Then, out of nowhere, a flying blur rammed
the youma, sending it stumbling back. Sailor Venus
stood where the youma once was, panting visibly.
"Sailor Venus! Are you ok?" he asked and placed a
hand on her shoulder. Suddenly memories start to
flood his mind as he touched the Senshi shoulder.
Stepping back a bit a painful expression on his face
Dunican looked at Sailor Venus. "Are these my
memories? From
the past?" he asked out loud.
Watching from his chambers, the Benefactor watched
Sailor Venus and the young man that was with her. "I
can feel a power from his. Yes, the power of a
Knight," he said and stood up. Waving a hand he
teleported Sailor Venus and Dunican to his chamber.
"Sailor Venus? Who is this young man with you?" he
asked.
Venus glanced at Dunican, then back at the
Benefactor. "This is Dunican, I just met him at...."
she stopped herself, looking at Dunican for a couple
seconds. Then she stood up straighter and looked back
to the Benefactor. "This is Venus Knight, from the
Silver Millennium," Venus said surely.
The Benefactor looked at Sailor Venus then to
Dunican. "You are right Sailor Venus. He is the
Venus Knight. I can feel it in him that power," he
said and placed a hand in front of him and it started
to glow. Suddenly a gold crystal appeared in front of
his hand.
Dunican looked at the two talk about him and
watched as the crystal flooded to him. "So my dreams
were a sign then," he said. Still unable to believe
this was happening. Taking the crystal in his hands
he looked at Venus and smiled and then said, "Power of
Light
come to me! For I am the Protection Knight of Venus!"
Seconds later Dunican was standing there in a dark
orange and cloak. He looked to his right wrist and
saw his weapon.
The Benefactor nodded. "Now go defeat that youma,
you two, and Sailor Venus, you know I have someone to
watch over you now," he said and waved his hand the
two reappeared where they were before.
Venus glared at the youma, speaking without taking
her eyes off of it. "We should probably combine
attacks, since my beam didn't work last time.
Hopefully the energy will be too much for the youma to
handle." She glanced at Dunican, making sure he was
ready. "Venus Cresent Beam!"
Dunican nodded and looked at the youma, putting his
hands back and then yelled, "Sonic Light Punch!"
Throwing the energy at the same time the Venus did her
attack.
The youma absorbed the energy, tripling in size.
But it was too much, and it kept growing. With one
final squeal, the monster burst, sending steaming goo
flying all over the place. Venus watched as the
street fell silent, the remains of the youma quickly
shrinking into
nothing. "Not bad for a first time," she said,
smiling.
Dunican nodded and smiled back. "I had a feeling
coming to Japan would start off a new adventure for
me," he said and looked at the uniform he was wearing.
He then looked to Sailor Venus and bowed slightly,
Taking her hand he kissed it and looked at her.
"Venus
Knight at your service Sailor Venus," he said smiling
to her.
Venus blushed visibly, very unused to this type of
treatment. Quickly she detransformed, after making
sure no one was in the area. Minako looked at Dunican
and smiled, still a little red. "Well, I'll need all
the help I can get, with this new evil," she said
softly.
Touching the crystal that held his cloak, Dunican's
uniform disappeared. "And I will be there for you
when you need help," he said softly and giving her a
warm smile. "So what happens now?" he asked.
Minako shrugged. "Nothing really, continue on with
our normal lives, fighting when ever evil shows up,"
she said matter-of-factly. "It's not that bad, unless
of course, you get hurt." She grinned a little,
remembering all the bruises this job gets.
Dunican nodded. "I see," he said and looked at the
people who were starting to come around. "Looks like
they will be ok," he said.
"Yeah, usually when the youma is destroyed the
people's energy returns to them," Minako said, "At
least that's what happen every time so far. I don't
know what would happen if the energy never returned,"
she added.
Lady Gaia's image appeared before the two. "Sailor
Senshi, thank you for helping protect this world. I
fear that I may not be able to help you much in the
future, please keep your hope... others will join you
and all will be revealed in time. All I can tell you
is Beryl's army is on the move and getting stronger
each day. Please take care and protect each other,"
she said and her image vanished.
Dunican watched as the image vanished. "I guess we
have someone watching over us," he said watched the
people come to. "And if the energy never returned to
these people, I think they would be in a deep sleep,
forever," he explained softly. "But that is something
I don't want to think about."
