Good books, like good friends, are hard to find, ne, minna-san? Well, there are places on the internet that make it easier to find friends, so here's a place I've set up to make it easier to find good books. ^^;; Well, at least that's what I think they are. Hope you guys enjoy them if you decide to read them. ^_^
Just click on the book title and it'll take you to its page at Barnes&Noble.com!
[ Regeneration ]
[ The Eye in the Door ]
[ The Ghost Road ]
The Regeneration Trilogy is by Pat Barker. The characters are real people who've lived and died around the time of WWI... think Siegfried Sassoon, Oscar Wilde... Hey, it's not bad! It's a WAY good read for book reports, exams or no. ^_^V It's not just about war. It's about gender, class, truth, survival... shounen ai... *koff* alright. I could go on forever. I won't. ^_~
[ Shadowdance ]
This is my first and favorite book that I have ever read by Robin Wayne Bailey! Shadowdance is a bit dark, and has 'mature themes' *it sez so of the inside cover* I take it as Shounen Ai. *think what you will, minna-san ^^*... It's the type of book that grabs you into it right at the first sentence, and my friends agree. ^_^ ... even non-yaoi loving friends... It's about a boy crippled at birth, who's given the chance to walk again from dusk 'til dawn... with one magic condition...
[ Memoirs of a Geisha ]
An absolutely beautiful debut novel by Arthur Golden. This book is pretty powerful. The main character has a sense of soft strength and wisdom from her past lessons in life. I don't know why... I just like it. Listening to her life is like being there with her, hearing her thoughts and seeing through her eyes. It's quite facinating and don't let me deceive you into thinking the girl's real. Nope. ^_^ BEWARE the fairy tale ending... -__-;
[ Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony ]
You know what? There's a story behind this book and I! This book by Roberto Calasso is actually the book that introduced me to the world of Yaoi... ^_^;; ok, it's really a philosophical piece of art on Greek mythology, but blame my twisted little mind for focusing on the wrong thing! ^^** All in all a very good book with the type of ending that makes you wanna go back and re-live it all *the book and the story in it* over again.
[ Prayers for Rain ]
P.I. Patrick Kenzie has to stop someone from stalking Karen Nichols, the typical girl-next-door of the 50s... Six months later, she commits suicide. Why? As he investigates, he's drawn the attention of a phychological serial killer (who aims to make people with themselves dead, and kill themselves)... By Dennis Lehane. You have to read this!
