Kanojo Ga Kafe Ni Iru

Fuyumi Souryou, Flower, 6

Michiru is your everyday girl; she lives in the suburbs of a large city (Yokohama), she likes to go to cafes' with her friends, and she has two childhood friends who live next door. Whats not normal is that one of those childhood friends, Ryouhei, is a popular model. Michiru has a very comfortable relationship with Ryouhei and his younger brother (who is her age), Shuusuke. But lately things have become strained, and Michiru doesn't really know what to do anymore. The story line folds out as Michiru finds herself in different situations revolving around trying to find a way to resolve the way her important friendships with Ryouhei and Shuusuke are going.

Souryou's artwork is very distinctive. She prefers clean drawings, and pretty much without any screentones at all. Its a nice change from so many shoujo manga that go crazy with them. It's a slow moving but sweet story. Aside from Ryouhei being a model, I feel that the story is really very realistic; I could imagine it occuring in real life. We can't help our ages or growing up or who we like, and this manga is pretty much all about that. I recommend it.
