Piano No Koibito

Naoe Kita, Hana To Yume, 2

When I first saw this at the store, I was immediately struck by it. The front cover is kind of like the story itself -- some action, but mostly kind of slow moving and calm. This really isn't a calm manga... but that's just the way I would describe the artwork, and the feel I get from it. It's peaceful.

The basic story is about Michiaki. Michiaki is training to become a pianist; it is his real love. One day he comes home after an important presentation, and hears some bars from a song. He is immediately struck by it, and follows where the sounds are coming from. He finds that the player is none other than Kenga, a famous prodigy pianist. For whatever reasons, he is now working as a piano repairman, and takes a liking to Michiaki and follows him around -- often in girl's clothing! The manga is very pretty and sweet, and deals with questions like why Kenga is working as a repairman and so forth.

This is a very nice story. I recommend it heartly, and perhaps suggest that it be read between two longer series; I think it would be a nice quick story to wait it out with.
