Rei is the first child (first qualifier) and the test pilot of Eva-00. She is 14 years old and her past is a mystery because all of her records have been erased. Ikari Gendou is like a father to Rei, he knows her more than anyone else. She lives with herself and is very quiet and doesn't show any emotions, but when she talks to Gendou she acts more like a normal girl would her age. Later on she gains confidence in herself and becomes more outgoing with other people, especially Shinji, whom she had special feelings for. She gave her life up to save Shinji's.
