Ayashi No Ceres is based on a Japanese Legend of the Tennyo Maidens (Tennyo = Heavenly). This story is about high school twins, Aya and Aki, born under the Mikage name. These twins had a great life until there 16th birthday when they found out a terrible secret about the Mikage clan.....

 

Aya's life would change forever when she found out she has the blood of the Tennyo, Ceres. That's not so bad right? Having a Heavenly Maidens blood line go to you, right? It is if your whole family is trying to kill you!

The Story

Once a year every year, the Tennyo, or Heavenly Maidens come down from heaven to bath in the spring.One year a fisherman was walking by and saw the Tennyo's bathing. On a tree next to him were robes made of a material the fisherman had never seen. He took one of the robes off of the tree and ran away. All of the Tennyo's returned to heaven except one, Ceres. Without her Hagaromo (Hagaromo = Feather Robe) she could not return to heaven and she was stuck on earth. Very upset, she went to the fisherman she saw earlier and asked if he had seen her robe. He replied "No" and Ceres wept. After a while Ceres married the fisherman and had 2 children. When her oldest child was singing to her child, the song had a strange melody, Ceres recognized it as the key to finding her robe. She located her robe and went back to the heavens, leaving behind her husband, and her family..........

The Present Time

On Aya and Aki's 16th birthday they went to there granfathers house and to much surprise everyone was there. They recieved 1 present from there grandfather but Aya was to afriad to open it. When the package was finally opened there was the remains of a mummified hand in the box. Aya suddenly got dozens of pictures running thru her head and looked up at her family. But she wasn't Aya, She was Ceres. The box exploded and Aya returned. Afterwards similar things happened to Aki, When he stood up holding himself dozens of cuts showed up all around his body. They all opened at the same time and Aki fainted. That is when Aya was told that she would be the one to die....
