The Bus's Transit of Anime Realities
"Rio" (Burn-Up W Stop) originally from Lizard King's Duran Duran Site! May be I haven't seen enough of Burn Up W to state if the series is is bad or good, but the first tape is pretty good anime, but far to short to build any sophisticated story. Unless I have $60 to spend with out hurting my wallet to bad I might actually buy the three remaining tape. Though the series is good, $80 for 2 hours turns me off. The animation style is very unique and all the humor is good, but the episode knew it had to tie everything up in 35 min., so the story is a little less than desired. |
Burn-Up W "File 1:Skin Dive" Review A group of terrorist have taken over Tokyo City's Hotel Kingdom which has delegates of a world peace summit in it. After threatening to drop hostages out from one of the higher floors if the cops try to take the hotel, they give an unusual list of demands that includes the world's most popular female singer to do a nude bungee jump from the top floor. To do what the cops can't, the WARRIOR strike team is called in. This case depends on the efforts of Rio, a blond, impatient homiside division cop, and Maya, a trigger happy sniper. They believe these terrorists are amatuers, so they'll confuse them by giving into their demands in a demented type of way which means the blond, well endowed member of the team will have to take the jump. Are the terrorists going to be as easy to take down as planned, and is this just a cover up for other crimes being commited? Well the biggest problem with the video is that there is a lot to do and not much time to do it in. Everything is hurried to the climax, so you wish it was atleast 10 minutes longer. Also the actor who portrays Yugi in the dubbed version, Jason Lee, does a job that doesn't even seem fit for school announcements (I do know Lee has done some other voices for A.D.V. films very well). Still everything that happens is fun, the style of animation is great and it does mkae you want to continue the series. Burn Up W copyright 1995 AIC / MRC by the courtesy of A.D. Vision.
