The Bus's Transit of Anime Realities

Review

Finally, I was able to find this series at a reasonable price. I'm a Tenchi Muyo fan so I knew I had to eventually sample this series, but not at the price they were being sold at. Also Evangelion was really emptying my wallet. If you've seen the series, you know I'm regretting not putting up the money sooner because this maybe the best extended OAV series I've seen.

The best I could do to describe this in one statement would be "it's as wacky as Tenchi, but every episode is essential to enjoying the series." Now that you haven't hit the back button on the browser, I'll assume I didn't insult any Tenchi fans. This title isn't as funny as Tenchi Muyo, but it's running story involving these wacked out characters is what attracts me to the story. Is this running story worth $80, well since it was once at $25 a tape, I'm not going to complain much. Also the animation, artwork, and soundtrack are excellent, so any animation fan should sample this series.

El-Hazard: The First Night Review

Reviews for other videos

nder Shinanobe High School, an ancient shrine has been discovered, supposedly by Katsuhiko Jinai. Many of his classmates believe him to be lying about this and his class presidentsy election victory, and his sister Nanami a long with Makoto Mizuhara are out to impeach him. Jinai is fed up with being out done by Makoto and decides to get his life long rival out of the impeachment scene the night before the trial. When he nearly catches Makoto, the entire school freezes except for Makoto. Makoto wondering what has happened, wanders into the shrine. Here he meets a women who claims to know him. She is weak and decides to use whatever strength she has left to transport him to El-Hazard.

Exposition seems to be slow in every series, but at least we get a pretty good idea of what the characters will be like. With Jinai's annoying voice and attitude he should make a descent villain. Nanami being a foil for her brother will probably work out well and a long with the drunk gym teacher, all of the characters seem to make for an interesting supporting cast to surround Makoto the character we're all suppose to relate to. The cast is mixed up in a similar style as Tenchi Muyo! (the directors are the same) but a greater draw is that the series will have a running story instead of the sitcom style TM. A long with all this is great animation and excellent soundtrack which makes it a must by for any anime fan.
