ULC Kayak Tours is a new business. I am operating single-handedly. I have been paddlinq since 1964 and have lead trips for the Washington Kayak Club, Canoe Cruisers Association in Washington, DC, and Washington Water Trails. My travels have taken me to Maine, Mexico, Chesapeake Bay and British Columbia. I've always enjoyed helping beginners lean the ropes in safety and confort. I am now trying my hand at makinq my vocation into my a vacation.
Who : Form your group (up to 6 people) of friends, family members. or co-workers.
Where : Choose the on-the-water location that catches your fancy. Suggested destinations are: Seattle waterfront, Ballard Locks (including Shilshole Bay and the Ship Canal), Lake Union. Alki Beach and Duwamish Head, the Kirkland Waterfront (including Yarrow Bay wetlands), Lake Sammamish and the Sammamish Slough, Mercer Slough in Bellevue, Blake lsland, Vashon lsland, LaConner and the Skagit Delta, Port Townsend and Dungeness Spit, Coupeville on Whidbey island, Guenes and Saddlebag islands near Anacortes, Lummi island. and the San Juan islands. Adventures are also available to British Columbia.
When : Choose the length of time that suits your schedule. Half-day tours are avallable to locations close to Seattle. Travrel to Skagit Bay, Port Townsend. the Nisqually Delta, etc. for a day, Or, consider an overnight adventure,
How : Plan your audventure to still your skill and expectations. Choose calm water, close to shore, with an emphasis on insrtruction, or--ask for wind. waves, Current and the experiece of open water.
All paddling is subject to weather conditions; we'll renegotiate plans if the wether is bad. Clients are required to sign a waiver.
Rates :
Half-day or evening (2 to 4+ hours, on the water, your choice) $30, per person
Full day (6 to 9 hours on the water, your choice) $60.
Overnight (2 paddling days) $100. Overnight trips can be done several ways:
paddle-+-camp-+-paddle,
paddle-+-spend the night at a bed & breakfast-+-paddle, or
paddle-+-return to the car-+-paddle in a different location the next day.
Equipment provided: single and double kayaks (there's a canoe, too if children, pets, or
non-paddlers want to come along), paddles (including spare), life jackets, whistles, pumps,
spraycovers, and paddle floats.
You brinig: clothing suitable for the weather. footware tor wadinq (boots, sandals, or soggy
tennis shoes), a change of clothing to go in a dry bag, outdoor stuff (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen,
etc.). snacks, liquids, or lunch. Consider a camera or binoculars.
The leader will bring: first-aid kit, marine VHF radio, cell phone, and other emergency
equipment.
