Although Ryo may delude herself in believing that having a handsome follower like Benkai was the equivalent of a magic lamp, the reality was quite different. Benkai believed that though Ryo may be his master, he will do his utmost to make sure she does everything she's supposed to, like studying on the weekend for example. A frustrated Ryo told him to mind his own business and retold the legend of Benkai, saying that the real Benkai was pierced by arrows. Benkai only replied by saying that though he is not the Benkai in the book, he is the real Benkai. A frustrated Ryo then asked him what he was doing in this period, and not the past.
Benkai then explained about his oath against the Heike clan, and how he tried to collect one thousand swords to fund his ambition. As Ryo said, this part is very similar to the legend of Ushiwakamaru. The difference was that while Benkai was fighting against Ushiwakamaru fell into a valley, Benkai followed him, but was unable to find him. When Benkai attempted to return he discovered himself in the future, with plenty of people who were unsympathetic with his problem.
Ryo was fascinated with Benkai's story, but believed it only to be that, a fantastical tale from a mad man. She became determined to restore Benkai's mental health by introducing him to the 20th century. With this in mind, Ryo then dragged Benkai around Tokyo, visiting Aoi first to borrow some clothes. Though some part of the sight seeing expedition was down right awkward or embarrassing, by the end of the day the two characters began to understand each other a little better. Ryo was touched by Benkai's genuine concern for her.
After they went home, while Benkai was mopping the floor a woman confronted him. In front of the surprised Ryo, she kissed Benkai and claimed to be his girl friend Torako.
