This second volume contains 80 illustrations first published in 1998-2000. I kinda like this volume better than the rest, probably because I'm never a fan of CLAMP's sometimes overly contrasting palettes anyway, and having browsed through volume 1 I'm sort of expecting the same style for the rest of the artbooks but boy, was I wrong. That the colours used here are noticeably softer, mostly feminine pastel shades. Very spring-ish and definitely very pretty ^_^. As usual, a majority of the illustrations come from Nakayoshi colour inserts and furoku (stickers, etc) while the rest come from calendar images and I noticed there are colour inserts from the original 12 manga tankoubon as well. Some of the images are also used in telephone cards (which can be purchased from Kodansha website at 1000 yen each, by the way...) and collectible posters while 6 never-been-published-before illustrations are created specially for the purpose of this collection, including a 2-page poster featuring Sakura and Syaoran in Victorian-style wedding costumes...wai!!! The back part of the poster features Sakura and Tomoyo as angels. If this is not enough to convince you to run to the nearest shop and purchase the volume, wait until you heard about the super kawaii short manga. The bonus story is the last installment of the 2-parter in volume 1. This time round it's Syaoran who catches cold and we see how Sakura made her way to Syaoran's house to bring him food and let him have a taste of her favourite honey milk drink...it's just too cute to miss! *blush blush* @ |
