Longings: Chapter 3

An exhausted Syaoran was slowly drifting off into a peaceful slumber as his plane soared into the air, across the ocean towards Japan. He was tired out because his family had lectured and advised alot before he left to find Sakura. He wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet while he still has the chance. Soon, he dozed off and dreamed sweet dreams of his cherry blossom. He was sleeping so deeply, he didn't even realize he had arrived when the plane had landed.

"Sumimasen, but the plane has arrived in Japan." The stewardess shook him awake. Syaoran was wide-awake in a second, glad at the thought of having arrived in Japan. He quickly grabbed his bags and got off the plane.

Sakura was having a hard time in Math class. Worst still, she couldn't pay much attention to the teacher because her mind seemed to be wandering off somewhere. Tomoyo would now and then, take side-glances at Sakura.

'She's been like this lately. I'm worried about Sakura-chan' Tomoyo thought in concern. Minaka just watched them and smiled sadly. Then she returned her attention to the blackboard, which was currently filled with numbers and puzzling questions. Minaka was jotting down a few notes; suddenly she jerked her head up and closed her eyes. One thought came to her mind as she just smiled and continued to work.

'He's back. Good. I'm sure Sakura-chan will be back to her normal cheerful self in no time.'

Then she silently added. 'Tomoyo-chan might want to get her video camera for this.'

Syaoran got out of the taxi and took his bags to his old apartment. When he reached his door, he turned the key in the lock and slowly opened his door. The furniture had been moved back in and some paintings decorated the walls. Syaoran looked around the apartment before he began the tough job of unpacking and cleaning. After an hour or so...

"Finally! Done!" Syaoran sighed in relief, looking around the apartment. He smiled in triumph at how spotless it was after alot of hard cleaning.

"Now I can go and take a bre-" He stop in mid-sentenced when he heard a low grumbling and looked down at his stomach.

"Maybe I should go buy the groceries first." With that, he grabbed his keys and dashed out the door.

"I need to go the mall and pick up some stuff. Do you want to come along?" Minaka asked Sakura and Tomoyo, after the play rehearsals.

"Sure. I can get some cake for K- I mean for my father." Sakura corrected quickly. Tomoyo readily agreed to go with them. They walked down the street towards the mall.

"I hate the cold! Brrrrr... My hands are freezing." Minaka complained as a gust of wind blew her flowing black hair across her face. Sakura and Tomoyo just giggled at their friend while she tried to get stray strands of hair back in place.

"Tomoyo-chan, who's acting as the other leading role in the play?" Minaka inquired while she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Yamazaki-kun." Tomoyo answered, looking at Minaka, who had a thoughtful look on her face.

"Ummm... Minaka-chan? Can I ask you a question?" Sakura asked as she placed a finger on her cheek.

"Hai. Nani?"

"You're from China, right? Doushite... do you have a Japanese name?"

"My father is a Japanese and my mother is a Chinese, demo I stayed in China though I come here on vacation sometimes..." Minaka just trailed off, then she turned her attention the grocery store.

"Let's go in there!" She said trying to change the subject.

"Minaka-chan, why do you need to go to the grocery store?" Tomoyo asked with a questioning look.

"Errrrr... I need to get some food?" Minaka replied sheepishly.

"Okay, let's go then!" Sakura said but suddenly she stopped so abruptly that Tomoyo, who was following behind with Minaka, walked right into Sakura.

"What's wrong, Sakura-chan?" Minaka asked with a tint of nervousness in her voice.

"N... Nothing." Sakura replied, sounding slightly uneasy.

'For a moment there, I thought I felt Syaoran-kun's aura. It can't be him. I'm probably just thinking too much about him.' Sakura shrugged off the feeling that had crept up on her.

" I need to get something down that aisle. Tomoyo-chan, can you help me look for it?" Minaka asked and she began walking toward the aisle with quick steps.

"Hai." Tomoyo replied and followed Minaka reluctantly.

"Sakura-chan, we'll be right back!" Minaka called as she dragged Tomoyo with her and disappeared around the corner. Sakura watched them go with a confused look on her face.

She decided to take a look around at the lovely Christmas decorations while she waited for them. She smiled sadly as she thought bittersweet memories of Syaoran. She was so wrapped up in her thoughts, that she walked right into someone and fell on the ground, feeling dazed.

"Hoe? Gomen nasai." She muttered as she tried to get up, but fell back down. Sakura tried to get up again, this time with her eyes closed, so the world would stop spinning. The person she walked into just stood there and stared at her in disbelief.

'Owww... I wish the world would stop spinning round and round.' Sakura thought. Then she felt someone help her get up and steady her. She finally opened her eyes and turned to thank the person.

"Arigato." She smiled but when she saw who stood in front of her. Her mouth fell and she gaped at the young man with amber brown eyes, who was smiling at her.

"Syaoran-kun!"

Syaoran was going around to his shopping, when he felt something in the distance.

'That can't be her. Can it? But I can always tell when she's nearby.' He frowned and walked quickly toward the aura, hoping it was her. As he was following his senses, someone bumped into him and fell down. Syaoran looked down and stared in disbelief.

There in front of him, sitting on the floor, was a girl with long auburn hair and emerald green eyes. He stared at her for a while before he regained his composure and helped her to get up. When she finally opened her eyes, she gaped at him for sometime. Syaoran couldn't help but smile at her.

"Syaoran-kun!" She cried before she flung her arms around a bewildered Syaoran and hugged him tightly. Syaoran could only stand there and blush, then he slowly returned the hug.

Hiding nearby, two girls were watching intently. Tomoyo was giggling while she held her video camera and taped the whole scene. Minaka was smiling and prayed the moment will last a little longer.
