Interviews
FrostBITE

Outstanding personality and steadfast friend, FrostBITE is no joke on the field either: deadly and experienced. A veritable wealth of information from the early days of Battlefield, FrostBITE is truly an old school hero.

The following interview was conducted by F-14 Tomcat the evening of July 19th, 2003.

F-14 Tomcat: First off, thanks for the interview!

FrostBITE: hey F-14 Tomcat! no problemo!

F-14 Tomcat: hehe, Lets get started. How old are you?

FrostBITE: 20 now

F-14 Tomcat: Are you a guy or a girl?

FrostBITE: uh... definitely a guy

F-14 Tomcat: lol, You sure you aren't some 46 year old women?

FrostBITE: (geeze! i hate it when people ask me that!)

F-14 Tomcat: lol

FrostBITE: uh... no -_-' of course not! (who told you?)

F-14 Tomcat: lol, Your girly faces gave it away

FrostBITE: :-[

F-14 Tomcat: Where are you from?

FrostBITE: San Antonio, deep in the heart o' Texas

F-14 Tomcat: cowboy country eh?

FrostBITE: see my beltbuckle? *shows off flashy big buckle*

F-14 Tomcat: lol, nice

FrostBITE: we are very proud of our home state

F-14 Tomcat: lol, lots of BF players from texas

FrostBITE: yup yup, especially san Antonio

FrostBITE: too bad sharky moved away

F-14 Tomcat: heh, Never knew him myself.

F-14 Tomcat: Now, for all the new little kids who have never heard of you, how long have you been playing Battlefield?

FrostBITE: uh... gee i dont remember!

FrostBITE: lets see... it's 2003 now right?

F-14 Tomcat: yep

FrostBITE: i started in um...

FrostBITE: well i remember i first made FrostBITE in march of 1999

FrostBITE: but that was when i first started playing "professionally". I had been in bfield off and on since early '98

F-14 Tomcat: heh, A regular oldtimer. And why do you play?

FrostBITE: why?

F-14 Tomcat: Why have you stayed with us for so long?

FrostBITE: i dont know...

FrostBITE: nobodies really asked me that before...

F-14 Tomcat: heheh, having second thoughts?

FrostBITE: now that u mention it... this game kinda sucks!

F-14 Tomcat: lol

FrostBITE: but i cant quit

FrostBITE: i've tried

F-14 Tomcat: heh, join the club!

FrostBITE: it's u people, u keep talking about bf, and sucking me back in!

F-14 Tomcat: lol, Join the dark side!

FrostBITE: i just know, as long as i play bf, i wont have those freaky bfield-dreams

F-14 Tomcat: heheh, What tanks have you played?

FrostBITE: well, not that many compared to most players: i've stuck with my main tank
FrostBITE for the most part, and of course played on alot of teams, gee i cant remember all the team-tanks i've had

F-14 Tomcat: OK, Tell me about your experiences with ancient teams such as, The Berries, and The Patriots, or your tank 1 7 7 6. (heh, yes I got ALL the dirt on you!!!)

FrostBITE: who told you about that! =-O

F-14 Tomcat: 8-) i got connections

FrostBITE: The Berries?! omg, i dont know who could have told you

F-14 Tomcat: heh, i'm just that good :-D

FrostBITE: as far as i know i'm the last surviving berry.

F-14 Tomcat: now, cmon, give us the down lo!!!

FrostBITE: you're that strange man that has been stalking me lately aren't you?

F-14 Tomcat: lol, yes, What were they all like?

FrostBITE: ok, they all start pretty much the same way. In S-e-c-r-e-t (which means you're not suppose to know i was on them!)

F-14 Tomcat: What were the raids like? The team members?

FrostBITE: Me and WarHawk started the berries just out of pure fun, and we didn't recruit the fastest or most popular people for our team with the intent of dominating the field, (although we had plenty of those too) we just got some friends together with the goal of having fun. there's just something about chatting on secret message boards and fighting under a concealed identity that really makes bfield more exciting. unfortunately Falcon and Spikes accidentally visited our 'secret messageboard' and blew the cover sky high before we could stop him
F-14 Tomcat: lol

FrostBITE: the Patriots was quite a different team, it was mostly made of battlfield legends, the problem is... legends never play their tanks! so that fell apart pretty quick

F-14 Tomcat: Yeah i know what you mean.

FrostBITE: well pretty slow... actually you could say we never got started

FrostBITE: the first patriots team was way back, even before my time. I was only part of a sort of revival

FrostBITE: but most people dont remember the first team since it was pretty short too

F-14 Tomcat: lol, and 1 7 7 6?

FrostBITE: now i wonder how you found out about that one

F-14 Tomcat: 8-) i'll tell you later

FrostBITE: me (1 7 7 6) and Savinn Ryan
(1 4 9 2) figured that the blue team in desert needed help, since orange and red and purple were murdering us, so instead of reviving Prism's battlefield Police team, we started these cool number tanks with significant dates in history. unfortunately we both sucked at history and got alot of the dates wrong (which is why i stuck with Independance, simple, i couldn't lose) and he stuck with Columbus's birthday. once we got SHARKY, Angel of Death and Red Devil onto the team, things started growing pretty fast and we got an awesome array of members. then after our first week of fighting SHARKY had a disagreement with someone over something (i never did find out what) and the team disbanded.

F-14 Tomcat: lol, wow

FrostBITE: so, that was my first 1-week team... and my last

FrostBITE: (my second team lasted 2 weeks lol)

F-14 Tomcat: heh, and speaking of old players... Are there any people you would bring out of retirement just to give them a good whooping all over again? (or have them whoop you, lol, whatever)

FrostBITE: LOL

FrostBITE: well nobody gives a good whooping like SHARKY did, even if he was full of himself. also, battlefield just isn't the same game without karina, it's been my career-long goal to deactivate him someday (fat chance :-P)

F-14 Tomcat: lol

FrostBITE: i'd like to bring alot of my ol' team-buddies from the olden days in apps back

FrostBITE: especially the smurfs,

F-14 Tomcat: heh, well, you never know when they might pop back up, as you said, its addictive!

FrostBITE: and the old time blues like Meandean, Hotshot, Pete, Thunderbolt.

FrostBITE: hey! i just saw pete last week

F-14 Tomcat: lol

FrostBITE: he's got the addiction bad man

F-14 Tomcat: lol, What are you taking in school?

FrostBITE: well i was taking computer science

F-14 Tomcat: yeah

FrostBITE: believe it or not, bonus.com and their gay DOT award inspired me to learn how to 'hack' and in the process i got addicted to programming and such.

F-14 Tomcat: lol, big money in computers

F-14 Tomcat: I am a starving artist type myself, lol

FrostBITE: (i always bring that up when my mom asks me why i waste so much time on this game)

F-14 Tomcat: lol, but mom, its homework!

FrostBITE: I need to get a gold cup at the tourney for extra credit!

F-14 Tomcat: lol, Do you work now? Or know what you want to do when grow older?

FrostBITE: well, i decided i would rather not be a starving artist type, i am going to grow up to be rich! filthy stinking rich, so i've changed my major in school to Economics. (that's the plan anyway)

F-14 Tomcat: lol, you give me a call when you have a spare benz!

F-14 Tomcat: I know you like to travel, what are some of your favorite spots?

FrostBITE: oh, definitely the California coast

FrostBITE: it's like 60 degrees there right now

F-14 Tomcat: heh, man, your making me jealous!

F-14 Tomcat: I heard you have met karina in person, and his Battlefield playing family, what was that like? Have you met anybody else from battlefield?

FrostBITE: hmm, ya karina really is as impressive in person as he is on battlefield. I was a bit surprised that his entire family plays the game as well. (i wish my family shared this kind of gaming enthusiasm)

F-14 Tomcat: heheh, wishful thinking i fear

FrostBITE: karina taught me alot of valuable things about battlefield, plus he told me all about the old days when the game had first started.

FrostBITE: that guy could probably write a book :-P

F-14 Tomcat: heheh, and he should

F-14 Tomcat: OK, heres the scenario: your in a fistfight with the following people, who would win?

F-14 Tomcat: Meandean?

FrostBITE: hmm

FrostBITE: i'm more of a "kick below the belt, then grab a brick and beat 'em to the ground" sort of guy

F-14 Tomcat: lmfao

F-14 Tomcat: HAHAHAHA

F-14 Tomcat: atleast you admit it!

FrostBITE: but i hear Meandean is older, and i'm young and strong ect... so i'd probably win :-P

FrostBITE: but the thing with fighting old men is... they don’t fight fair either!

F-14 Tomcat: lol, and you’d know how?

F-14 Tomcat: Beating up hobo's again?

FrostBITE: hehehe

F-14 Tomcat: lmfao

FrostBITE: you have been stalking me!

F-14 Tomcat: lol, Types?

FrostBITE: i haven't met him yet, he's about my age, and a Longhorn brotha... I'm guessing he could kick some serious ass

F-14 Tomcat: heheh, he’s really a wuss ;-)

FrostBITE: if i'm right... i've always been an exceptionally fast runner

F-14 Tomcat: lmao, F-14 Tomcat?

FrostBITE: you're like 15 right? hehe, i eat old men and little kids like you for breakfast :-P

F-14 Tomcat: lmao, one day i'll; stop stalking and start attacking!

F-14 Tomcat: dont mess wit the terminator

FrostBITE: how tall are you?

FrostBITE: and how much do you weigh?

FrostBITE: (those eyes are scary)

F-14 Tomcat: lol, First off I’m 18, and bigger than you are!

F-14 Tomcat: lol, moving right along

F-14 Tomcat: Have you seen any good movies lately? Or listened to any good music?

FrostBITE: no, no good music lately, i've got "Can't Stop" from Red Hot Chili Peppers running thru my head,(saw the music video, those guys are a bit strange ya know?) as for movies I watched Finding Nemo twice... every other movie i've seen this summer was pretty disappointing. right now I'm renting alot of Charlie Chaplin & Buster-Keaton movies from blockbuster, I'm a big silent film buff

F-14 Tomcat: lol, strange

FrostBITE: who, me or the chili peppers?

F-14 Tomcat: lol, silent movies

FrostBITE: lol

F-14 Tomcat: i dont have the attention span for those

FrostBITE: ok ok, and some fred astair movies too

FrostBITE: good ol musicals

FrostBITE: (yeah i'm a tap dancer)

F-14 Tomcat: lol, a damn fine one too i bet! Do you have any pets? If you could have any pet, what would it be and why?

F-14 Tomcat: And leave Meandeans wife out of this!

F-14 Tomcat: ;-)

FrostBITE: well... i wish i had a dog, but the apartments i live in wont alow it... rofl

FrostBITE: but if i could have any animal, i'd get a pet bunny :-D bunnies are soooo cute! j/k

F-14 Tomcat: lol, a playboy bunny perhaps?

F-14 Tomcat: lmfao

F-14 Tomcat: Meandeans going to kill you, lmfao

FrostBITE: uh... those are your words bro, not mine :-P

F-14 Tomcat: heheh

FrostBITE: anyways, the only pets i have are these packs of stray cats that won’t leave me along (maybe i should stop feeding them)

F-14 Tomcat: lol

F-14 Tomcat: Heh, do you remember the good old days of playing Battlefield on a 200 MHz, with 28K modem?? lol, how has cable changed your playing?

FrostBITE: omg... you broke into my house and looked at my old puter!

F-14 Tomcat: lol, would i do that???

FrostBITE: well... IF I HAD cable... it would definitely change my playing

F-14 Tomcat: LMFAO, oops

F-14 Tomcat: what do you have?

FrostBITE: but unfortunately, i'm still stuck with an old computer

F-14 Tomcat: lol, my bad

F-14 Tomcat: salt in your wounds eh

F-14 Tomcat: lol

FrostBITE: how can i buy a new computer and still have an old one?

FrostBITE: i guess technology has progressed beyond the 28k days

F-14 Tomcat: lol, and passed you by? What effect do you think the discovery of AIM, and ICQ programs have had on the game?

FrostBITE: AIM and ICQ became an important part of battlefield because this game is all about teamwork, and meeting new people... and bashing their tanks into the ground and then cussing them out later lol

F-14 Tomcat: I agree completely! Lol

FrostBITE: bonus.com's old message boards were hardly ever updated and we just resorted to new technology

F-14 Tomcat: The pro's outweigh the con's in my opinion

FrostBITE: I think now there's more of a trend for AIM than ICQ in battlefield because first off icq really slows the game down, and secondly AIM is just easier to use

F-14 Tomcat: lol, true

FrostBITE: I just uninstalled icq because i hardly see anyone on it anymore

FrostBITE: except maybe for a few old timers like ManupaMan, Dewey, Poi Dog, Nemesis, or Mommy; it's pretty quiet there

F-14 Tomcat: heh, On to more serious matters, What do you think of events in the world these days? War? Terrorism? Racism? Etc.

FrostBITE: whenever anything goes wrong in my life i've gotten into the habbit of blaming it on bonus.com

FrostBITE: it's all bonus's fault

F-14 Tomcat: heh, speaking of which

F-14 Tomcat: Has Bonus.com ever fucked with you? Done something wrong, or stolen an award from you? Lol, can I say fuck?

FrostBITE: uh, well i dont like to describe my relationship with bonus in any sexual way...

F-14 Tomcat: lol

F-14 Tomcat: leave me alone! LOL, Well I figured we already touched on Playboy bunnies, beating up the homeless, and stalking people, lmao, swearing was just a natural progression.

FrostBITE: lmfao, but yeah, the've pretty much screwed me over almost every way possible, awards, points, registrations, you name it

FrostBITE: after playing the same tank for 4 years, i think it's a miracle that FrostBITE has survived bonus's rampages

F-14 Tomcat: heh, so, when your rich one day, want to help me buy them out?

FrostBITE: u bet

F-14 Tomcat: heh, give ourselves free awards and such, lmao

FrostBITE: yeah, a nice golden $$ award

FrostBITE: for investing some worthwhile money into bfield and getting rid of those lagging banners

F-14 Tomcat: heh, ah what i would give to be sole dictator of bonus.com, lol, ok, were almost done

F-14 Tomcat: If you were me, who would you interview next? And why?

FrostBITE: hmm, have you interviewed Meandean yet?

F-14 Tomcat: nope, and falon suggested i do that too :-D

F-14 Tomcat: Hmmm, seems there is a growing public demand for my good buddy Dennis Dean!!

F-14 Tomcat: perhaps we'll see him soon ;-)

FrostBITE: I would if I were you, that guy was a colonel back when FrostBITE was just a little ol' captain in appaloosa (i remember when dean got his triple star, we were so proud!) besides, he's probably going to kill me for talking about pet bunnies and we need to give him a chance to defend himself

F-14 Tomcat: lol, ok, i'll take your advice

F-14 Tomcat: Give a shout out to some of your favorite BF players.

FrostBITE: oh wow, there have been so many old players i've known in the game, and i dont even know how many of them still play since i've only been back for a week, I guess I'll say hey to all my homies on the STRIKES and some old comrades like Kelly and GowBows99, HWTank, the incomparable AOD, and all my texas bfield brothas...karina, PPK, laser, Peacemaker, Scruff, Jimmo, BamBamII, Gotcha, Rd, Typesalot, Whiner, Rory, Curse and uh...I think that's all the people i can remember just now...

F-14 Tomcat: wow

F-14 Tomcat: heh

FrostBITE: *gasp for breath*

F-14 Tomcat: lmao

F-14 Tomcat: And finally, is there a message you would like to send to all the new players out there, or anything else you would like to add? Is there anything I have missed?

FrostBITE: a message to my fellow bfield players? sure..."Who's Yo Daddy???"

F-14 Tomcat: lmfao, fair enough

FrostBITE: "I AM!"

F-14 Tomcat: w00t!

FrostBITE: 8-)

FrostBITE: thanks alot F-14 Tomcat, it's been a great interview

F-14 Tomcat: heh, and on that note we'll finish up!

F-14 Tomcat: Thank you kindly for the interview, and good luck in all your ventures!

FrostBITE: No, Thank You

FrostBITE: happy hunting

FrostBITE: (that's what Snoop used to always say)

F-14 Tomcat: Cya on the field! :-)
