-What story or stories were you told as a child to explain why something was/is the way it was/is? For instance, what respone did you get for "Why is the sky blue?" or "Where do babies come from?" etc. Pick a story and write your journal entry about this.

Unfortunately I was never told stories of how things are the way they are. I was always told the scientific truth, which really explains why I don't have a big imagination.

-Pretend you are having a conversation with one of the Greek gods. Write a brief dialogue demonstrating what you would ask them and how they would answer you.

Charita:Ohh my god!!! Do you know who you are?!?!?!?

Aphrodite: Yea I think so sweety...calm down before you wake the

underworld.

Charita: Ooops sorry. I've heard alot about you, I've read books, stories, and.....

Aphrodite: Please hunny all that stuff is bogus information I should know I've read them myself.

Charita: Well people say that you are very confident and proud of yourself.

Aphrodite: With a body like this who wouldn't? Do you know how many girls wish they could look like me?

Charita: Well I guess you do think VERY highly of yourself.

-Why do you think things are the way they are? Who/what is responsible for our world? Explain!

I think the our world is the way it is because of the organisms that inhabit it. I think the humans and animals are responsible for our world, because everything a person/animal does always has an effect on their community and on their enviornment.

-Why are there unpleasant things in our world?

I think that there are unpleasant things in our world because people do stupid things that cause other people to be influenced by them and they start to act like that person. Also the reason why I think there are unpleasant things in our world because we allow it to happen.

-If you had the powers of a Greek god, which god would you like to be? Describe the powers and explain how you would use them.

If I had powers of a Greek God I would be the Selene, the moon goddess. If I had her powers I would make the moon shine brightly at night so that it can be a romantic place/senery for all, because I am really the romantic type.

-Here is your Miss America question: If you could change one thing in the world/universe, what would it be?

If I could change one thing about he world it would be to change the way people treat each other, because even though there's that saying "Sticks and stones may brake my bones but words will never harm me" they still do. All over the world people are hurt mentally and phisically because of things that are being said to them. I know that this really isnt a huge problem of the world but if people treated other people better it would make the world a better place, and there would be less tension between people and that would help stop the start of a war. Plus it would help stop a lot of gang fights. So if I had to change one thing abou the world that would be it.

-Why do people need an explanation for the world around them? Why can't humans be content with just "being"? Explain your answer in regards to our need for science/religion to give us answers.

People need explinations for things because people are born with curiosity, and this curiosity leads to imagination and then they make up stories of how thing came to be the way they are.

-Choose one of things from yesterday's entry that other people would agree with you about. In other words, your friends and family would certainly agree that you do know a lot about that area/subject. Then, write 10 sentences explaining what makes you an expert in this area/subject. Describe!

People would agree with me that I'm an expert at dancing because I have been dancing since I was three years old and I have been doing it my whole life. I am now an independent choriographer and I help to teach little children to dance.

-Decribe your bedroom.

My bedroom is the place where I can get away from everything, it describes me exactly. The paint on the walls are baby blue, and I have posters and pictures of all my friends on the walls. In my room there are millions of teddy bears and little acssesories that I love to collect. my room is my place of freedom, no one is allowed in it, and they can't take or use any of my things without asking me. My room is my favorite place, because this is the place where I can be alone and I can have of the privacy that I need. this is also the place where I spend most of my time, because as soon as I get home this is where I go so that I can get away from my sisters and my parents.

-Describe the classroom.

The classroom is a place for learning there are old fashioned desks and the class is set up so that everyone is facing the front and ready for learning. There are bright eye children anxious to start the day. The walls are filled with vibrant and colorful posters and samples of the childrens work. The room smelt fresh and cool, the atmosphere is very calm but yet exciting because the pupils are anxious and uneasy.

-Describe the odors you encounter the minute you walk into your home.

The odors that i encounter when I first walk into my home is the smell of food cooking on the stove, I smell my mothers purfume drifting through the house.

-Describe the sounds of the cafeteria during lunch.

In the cafeteria there are sounds of laughter and joy, this is the time where the stress of school is lifted and we have time to relax and enjoy. Even though this period is ONLY fourty-five minutes it still is the best part of the day. Sometimes people get out of hand and start to scream and shout across the lunch room that interupts other conversations and makes a specticle in the lunch room that everyone has to stop what they are doing and look at them.

An animal that I have touched is my cousins dog, he is an Italian Mastive, which is a really big dog I sometimes ride him like a horse. He feels very smooth and some what bumpy because I can feel his bones under my hand as his skin brushes under my hands.

My favorite person is my mother, because I look up to her and she is my role model. My mother is loving caring and sweet and she always has this distinct smell to her. She smells like her favorite purfume-beautiful by estee lauder. She sets expectations for herself and helps me to set some for me. To me my mother is very beatiful in many ways, she is a very attractive woman and she is very creative and very realistic. To me this is my favorite person.

My least favorite person would be someone that looks slopy and when they crowd me. I hate when people crowd me because it makes me feel aggravated and makes me feel very congested. Also someone without good hygiene would not be my favorite person.

The happiest moment in my life is when I started school, because I knew that I would be learning more intersecting things, and that I would meet new and interesting people. At first I was scared because I wasn' tused to being away from home and surrounded by a whole bunch of people that I didn't even know, but I got used to it. but now that I am in High School I have come to dread school because of all the work and pressure that I have taken on. but the ironic thing is that the only thing I like about school is the new and interesting people that I have met.

-Describe the saddest moment of your life, paying attention to describing the objects, sights, and sounds around you.

The saddest moment of my life was when I came home from visiting my grandmother to find out the my cousin who was missing for two days was pronounced dead. My family and I rushed to their house in Brooklyn. I was devastated by this news, Shawn (my cousin) was one of my favorites and he was only 21. I went to the funeral to see him laying there his body still/lifeless, bruised and battered i cried and cried until my eyes were so puffy I couldn't see. I loved him with all of my heart, he was the only one who could make me laugh when I was sad and he always brightened up my day. I loved him very much...but now hes not in my life anymore...and this is the saddest moment of my life.

-Describe a time you saw something bad happen to another person and exaplain how it made you feel. Why?

One time I saw a girl getting picked on by other people just because they thought that she was different. I felt really bad for her because I don't think that she deserved it and I would never do anything like that to anyone, because I would'nt want it done to me. I think that they were wrong because she was an individual and they thought that she should look, act, and do whatever they did, but I look up to her because she stood up for herself.

It really depends on what the problem is but most of the time I tell someone becasue I think it would be better to get help and the opinion of others. The people that I run to for advice, are the people that I know will always be there for me. These people are my parents, family, and friends. They include my cousins, Jean, Yogita, Iana, Sadia, and my baby Sean. They help me out when I'm in a tuff spot and they help me when something bad happens to me and they make me see the bright side and they make me feel better.

When something good happens to me I automatically tell someone because I just can't keep it inside. Some people might call it bragging but I consider it showing people and myself that I am proud of myself.

To me my inspiration is my role model because she strives me to accomplish what I can, and she helps me and guides me through whtever I might need help in. I look up to her and whatever she does because she inspires me to work as hard an complete as much as she has done through out her childhood.

-Describe how you felt your first day of high school.

On my first day of High School I felt very scared and confused and at the same time I felt very excitied. I was very unsure about the new enviornment, and of all the new people that I was sure to meet. I was excited that I was going to a larger school and that I would be learning new and interesting things. but as I got used to the school all of my fears and doubts left my mind and now I feel very comfortable in Thomas Edison High School.

-What is your fondest memory of your freshman year?

My fondest memory of my freshman year was when I found out that I had a cousin going to Edison. I used to see her at family parties and get-togethers but I never talked to her. But then when I started High School there she was walking right by my side in the hall way I was so surprised and I was very happy to have someone to share my freshman fears and joys with, because she is also a freshman. I have older cousins that go to Edison but I don't think that they can relate to me.

-What is your worst memory of your freshman year?

The worst memory of my freshman year is when I found out that the boy that i had a huge crush on lied to me and betrayed me. He had lead me on for five months and then broke the news to me that he was going to go back out with his ex-girlfriend becausde he still had feelings for her. But I got over him and now I am in a healthy relationship with someone I love very much.

During my freshman year at Thomas Edison High School I have learned to deal with many different types of people. There are very sweet, kind and then there are the kind of people that are sweet and kind to your face but behind your back all they do is talk about you. Then there are the people that are just plain old rude.

-If you could do things differently, what would you change about things you did or did not do your freshman year?

If I could change anything that happened during my freshman year it would be to let me have a more positive attitude about school so that I could've done better my first year in Edison. I would have liked to have had a better average, because I am not really proud and thrilled of the average that I recieve my freshman year.

To me high school is not everything that I hoped and imagined it would be. I have already been through so many experiences both good and bad and at first I was scared of high school but now I have learned to love it. I was afraid of all the new people having to get used to doing new things and getting adjusted to the new enviornment. But so far everything is going just great.

-The grand finale... Would you do your freshman year over again if you could? Explain why or why not.

No I would not want to do my freshman year over because it has been a wonderful experience and I have learned many new and interesting things, and met many new and interesting people. Plus these people have all touched my life in different ways, and I would never want to change it. At first my freshman year started out a little rocky, but now it is wonderful and I would not want to repeat it because then I would have probably never met my wonderful boyfriend who I love very much. So I do not think that I would want to repeat my freshman year.
