The Mousse Song

Words: Justan O. Thereditor
Music:	"Sweet Betsy from Pike"

When I was a young lad, I used to like cake.
I'd eat any flavor my mommy would bake,
'Til one Thanksgiving dinner, when Grandma served goose,
Pearled onions, potatoes, and French chocolate mousse.

CHORUS
And it's "Mousse, mousse, I'd like a mousse!
I've never had anything quite like a mousse!
I've had rainbow sherbet that's made with fruit juice,
But I've never had anything quite like a mousse."

When I'm in the mood for a liver pate'
I can sit on my hands 'til the mood goes away,
But when I crave salmon, it's simply no use,
'Cause the liver's pate' but the salmon's a mousse.

	CHORUS

I tried a Schwartzwaelderkirschtorte one night,
I've even succumbed to a Turkish delight,
But it's just not the same as the joy you produce,
When you shove your whole face in a big bowl of mousse.

	CHORUS

I've tried it with all kinds of foreign cuisines.
If there's mousse for desert, I could eat Lima beans.
When the waiter brings goodies for me to peruse,
I say "Shove the whole pastry cart, I'd like a mousse!"

CHORUS

Now I'm very old, over twenty-eight years,
And I think back past bourbon balls*, bars*, and rootbeers,
To the sweetest of mem'ries from days of our youths:
Playin' "dunk your banana' in double fudge mousse!

CHORUS

(* substitute regional or favorite sweets if these aren't familiar)
