GENERAL CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION

This festival is a celebration; the celebration of amateur and halfprofessional theatre!

It is a unique opportunity to encounter different cultures and languages through each of the high quality artistic performances.

Debates will also help to promote exchange, novel ideas, friendship, and mutual discovery of various points of view about theatre.

O R G A N I S E R S

The festival was initiated by the Public Foundation “ Valkas City Theater” , Valka Town Council, Valka Town Culture Center and TV Company “ Valkas TV – 5” Ltd. of Valka Town.

P A R T I C I P A T I O N

The festival will invite 8 troupes from all around the world. Each troupe is expected to propose a high quality theatre show, whatever the theme or duration, provided it is intelligible for an international and multilingual audience. 

The Artistic Committee will select 8 groups from the applications received.The

selection criteria will involve the choice of the text, the quality of directing and acting, the technical feasability, as well as accessibility to an international audience.The choice will be made on the basis of a video- cassette

The perfomance:

-should be easy to understand by multilateral audience

-cannot be longer than 90 minutes.

A C C O M M O D A T I O N & C O S T S

The festival will cover all expenses for accommodation, meals, and participation in all festival activities for a maximum 7 persons per group.Accompanying persons are welcome but will be requested to pay for accommodation and meals.

The participants must arrange all travel expenses to Latvia themselves. They should also pay for visas/ where necessary/, airport taxes and travel / personal insurance.

Pocket money will no be provided.

The enclosed application form should be returned to the organisres by March 30th 2001, accompanied by a video recording of the performance /VHS-PAL will be most appreciated/.Photographs and press reviews are welcome. Selected groups will be notified before April 30 th 2001.
