Greg smiled at his dragon - Ailonth was growing so quickly. Just yesterday the trainer had allowed the Flurry dragons to take their riders on the first (legal) flight. It had been exhiliarating! Even now, Greg had hesitations about his plan for life. Would he go back to school if they found a way to get home? His studies in Aviation would come in handy with Ailonth - and flying with a responsive mount was far more interesting than flying a mechanical plane.
It would seem that he'd found his niche - a dragonrider he would be.
J'kosh noticed the glow on the young rider, and came over to speak with him. "Greg - or is it Gr'gory?"
"Just Greg." he replied, and the Weyrleader smiled.
"Greg, I've noticed that the rest of your team looks to you as their leader. If more than half of them choose to stay at Ryslen, we'd have to form a new wing to use them, and I would like you to lead it."
Greg grinned. "I'd ... no, WE'D be honored." Ailonth rumbled happily.
Jakob could only smile at his white winged blue Savaranth. He felt a bit silly doing it, but he was pleased with how his life turned out.
Don't you want to go back to Earth? Savaranth asked quizically
Jake hesitated. "I don't think the police force would appreciate a dragon, Savaranth, and there's no way I'm going back there permanently without you."
Maybe there's a way you could police here? the blue suggested.
Jake shrugged. "I wouldn't know the first thing about how they do things here."
"You could always ask." Searchrider Minaeya said with a smirk as she passed.
Jake blushed. "Minaeya... would you know who I could talk to about security and keeping the peace?"
Minaeya smiled. "Just ask the Weyrleader. He'll know where you could lend a helping hand."
Jake didn't think this answer was too helpful, but he knew he belonged here. He'd find his niche...
Dilan wrestled with his concience, just like everyone else. He'd already started his schooling - but now he had Meloarth, and he wasn't about to give his dragon up. Not that Meloarth would let him. His dilemma led him to Ke'l, a young bronzerider, who cheerily informed him that the Harpers took care of the legal issues in East Rock, and if he wanted to persue that, they would be the ones to speak with. Happily, Dilan did just that, and Meloarth proved to be a good diplomat as well.
Emily had a bit of trouble adjusting to life at Ryslen - Csanadrith was a great help though. He loved her to pieces. But things just weren't right. She could easily continue her chemistry studies here - there were plenty of labs available a short trip a'dragonback from Ryslen, and they were happy for a skilled hand. Perhaps it bothered her that her dragon was male? That whole mating thing...
Nevertheless, Emily was staying at Ryslen.
As soon as Daren's arm was healed, he'd taken to wrestling and playing with his duowing Rhyalinth, who turned out to be a speedy little guy. Not that he'd stay little for long.
Daren had enjoyed 'watching' people's reactions to the supposedly odd dragons that had hatched from the Flurry, and was able to piece together a lot of the way a Ryslenite thought about things. He loved Psychology...
Even though he'd left behind a lot, Daren felt Ryslen was his home - where else would Ryalinth be welcome?
Ryan walked quietly across the bowl, with Levaritoth pussy-footing behind him, sending up little clouds of fine red sand wherever he put his blue-socked feet.
A lot of things have changed since you arrived. the special dragon observed. You have changed alot.
Ryan stopped, turned, and hugged his white-blue dragon around his neck. "Yes, but I wouldn't change it back. Not for a full-ride to the most expensive school."
So you're not going back then?
"Why bother? Ryslen's great, and Biology can be studied anywhere." Ryan had found his niche.
