DragonballZ Movie#2 - The World's Strongest Man
Japanese Release Date: 3/10/90
Vegettos Crypt Rating: 4 out of 7
Comments: Excellent Animation, Good Fight Scenes, but poor plot.
Synopsis: Oolong has "borrowed" Bulma's Dragon Radar, and discovers that someone is gathering the Dragonballs. He tells Gohan what's up, and they decide to go north into the mountains. There they find a mysterious man named Dr. Kochin, who has just summoned Shenron. He wishes Dr. Wheelo and his lab to break free of their icy prison. Gohan and Oolong are ambushed by Wheelo's henchmen, and Piccolo stands in to save them. He is captured by Wheelo's androids, but Son Gohan and his pig companion escape. Dr. Kochin flies to Kame House, and kidnaps Bulma to force Kame-sennin (Master Roshi) to come with him. Wheelo wishes to pssess the body of the worlds strongest man, as he lost his in an accident that encased him in ice. Since Dr. Wheelo was trapped in ice for 50 years, he believes Kame-sennin is the best fighter on earth. To test the martial arts master, Wheelo makes him fight the three androids. Kame-sennin actually holds his ground for half a minute.....then he gets smacked around a bit and electrocuted. Goku learns of what happened, and flies to the mountains to rescue his friends. He is confronted with a number of tests, including a battle with a fat android named Minkatsun. After puncturing the android, he is joined by his son and Kuririn in battle. The two other androids, Kishime and Ebifuraiya, prove to be a challenge at first. They both fall to Goku's Kaioken technique. At this point, Dr. Wheelo reveals his most powerful follower, Piccolo. Son Goku does battle with his old enemy, infuriating Gohan. Dr. Kochin doesn't make things better with his inflammatory comments and energy staff. In a blind rage, Gohan shatters Piccolos gold, mind-controlling veins, and does serious damage to Dr. Wheelos laboratory. Kuririn confronts Dr. Kochin, who points his finger at Kuririn changing it into a heavy machine gun. Kame-sennin jumps in a back-hand slices the machine gun saving Kuririn from a few painful wounds. Now with all his henchmen disabled, Dr. Wheelo is forced to do battle himself. His metal body is extremely powerful, and withstand a full force Kamehameha from Goku, Kuririn and Kame-sennin. Wheelo loses an arm in battle, and decides that he'll just wipe out the earth. Gohan, Kuririn and Piccolo follow him up to space, and do battle while Goku charges a Genki-Dama (Spirit Bomb). Wheelo hits the earth causing Goku to drop the attack although he still has a little left. Goku finally gets his attack off the ground just as soon as Wheelo launches his planet smashing attack. The Genki-dama absorbs the attack and hitting Dr. Wheelo and our villain is destroyed.
What Vegetto Thought: This movie, in my opinion is the second best DBZ movie released in the US. We're treated to spectacular views of the icy mountains and Kame-sennin displays some of his own martial arts attacks. I thought it was good when the Z Warriors fired a full force Kamehameha at Dr. Wheelo. A good movie to get if you haven't already got it.
