How to gain access to the results With a touch-tone telephone you can gain access to the sales results. Dial +44-171-321.3221 (South Kensington Sales) then follow the instructions to enter the sale code and lot numbers: it is easy, when you hear the voice you dial the four digits code followed by the hash key (#); then you dial the lot number followed by the hash key. Immediately you can have the sale price. Let us suppose you had a successful bid for 100 English sterlings. The final price is usually 100 (sale price)+15 (buyer's premium) + 2,62 (VAT on buyer's premium) = 117.62. Some lots are daggered: this means that VAT is payable at the prevailing standard rate (17.5%) by the buyer on the final bid price (hammer price), plus buyer's premium. If you made a bid by post or fax, Christie's can contact on your behalf Merss Cadogan Tate (very good service!) for shipping (for European countries the cost is around 35-50 sterlings for 1-2 cameras). If you need more information you can write to Michael Pritchard, Auction Specialist and Editor of PW, the quarterly magazine of the Photographic Collectors Club of Great Britain (many Exakta Circle Members are members of this Club. Information can be found on Internet). 1997 past auctions 16-17 January, 20 February, 6 march, 17 April, 12 June (Leica cameras), 10 July, 28 August, 9 October and 20 November 1997. Comment Good news for those Exakta collectors who own a large quantity of cameras and lenses! The prices are growing. This is my opinion but if you look at the successful bids on the following lots you can understand what I mean. 144 pounds for a Kine probably version 4 can be a fair price for an English collector but the growth of this currency during last 18 months in confront of other European currencies (around 30% in the last 18 months) make it expensive for other countries. The same thought can be applied to the Exakta II, sold for 150 pounds. If we look at the last lot, sold for 1265 pounds, more than 2000 dollars, I am sure that the collectors begin to look at Exaktas, till yesterday the Cinderellas. Sure, in this lot there were 2 Biotars 1,5/75, a Flektogon 25, 2 Flektogon 35... but if you try to give a fair price to single items, probably you have a sum of 2500 dollars not more. But if you buy all together from a dealer the price changes...
