So, you want to know how I feel about homosexuality? Here's how I feel: "Who the hell CARES how I feel??" Any given person's sexuality is no more my business than mine is his. It's a personal issue; basing your judgement on that sexuality is about as intelligent as basing it on whether she's registered as a Republican or a Democrat. And I don't give a shit whether it's a choice or a genetic characteristic, either. Even if you think it's a choice and that it's wrong, who the HELL are you to start a self-righteous crusade to "cure" these people of their "illness"? If you're really that philanthropic wouldn't it make more sense to spend your time helping people who really need and want your help, such as the homeless or people with developmental disabilities? And don't come at me with bullshit sophistry designed to disguise hatred as logic. Here are a few of my favorites:

"It's just not natural!"

First of all, buggering takes place throughout the animal kingdom, so if you're saying it doesn't occur in nature, you're shit out of luck. Secondly, what the hell do you mean by "natural"? Have you ever used a condom? If so, did it grow out of your groin? For that matter, how natural is it to live in houses and use cutlery? If you're going to use that argument, you'd better be prepared to go all the way.

"It goes against God/The Bible!"

My religious feelings (or lack thereof) aside, God seemed to be just as pissed at non-God-approved heterosexual behavior as He was at homosexual acts, so what's your point? There seems to be a big inconsistency here, probably because people need an excuse to attack something that makes them uncomfortable.

"Those faggots are trying to convert everybody!"

Gimme a break! This argument is hardly worth dignifying with a response. Does anyone out there honestly believe that homo sapiens could have evolved as far as we have with a sex drive so defective as to allow mass conversion to nonreproductive sexual behavior? Again, it's a pathetic attempt to justify hatred.

You know the one thing about this issue that completely mystifies me? The fact that U.S. citizens, of all people, should be so damn terrified of homosexuals. Between Christ and Freud we have a pretty messed up view of ourselves: Good/Evil, Sex/Love...We're not one being, we're the gestalt of all these discrete entities warring within us. Why, then, do people have such a problem accepting that a person can love another regardless of gender?

OK, I think that's all for that rant.
