Brujah! Oooo, scaaary! Don't let the big bad Brujah get me! Right. I don't really think much of the stereotypical Brujah, as a group. Individual characters... I've seen some really good ones, they're great in the chronicles, but maybe they take themselves too seriously, you think?

Let's see, for anyone who isn't well-versed in the whole Clans thing, let me go ahead and explain the Brujah to you. Also so I have something to write here.

The stereotypical Brujah is the gangbanger type. You know, the leather, the biker thing, no-one-pushes-me-around type. Tough, fighter types. White Wolf's equivalent of a warrior or some other kind of fighter like you'd find in your standard fantasy role playing games. But Protean isn't an in-clan discipline, unfortunately, if it were it would really make for a powerful clan... the combination of Celerity and Protean is deadly.

Not all Brujah are the gangbanger types, though. Really, at its base, the Brujah clan is a clan of individualists, revolutionaries, and free-thinkers. According to the White Wolf histories, they say that the Brujah were largely responsible for major political revolutions, like the American and French revolutions; they were very active in colonial America and the movements for independence, and I'd imagine they'd have been active in pre-revolutionary, post-Waterloo France, with the insurrections and minor revolutions as described in Hugo's Les Miserables that led up to the actual French Revolution. I'm only giving American and French examples here because that's all I can think of, but you can bet their type was involved in just about every revolution or insurrection. It's just how a lot of them are.

There's another kind of Brujah, the ones that remember the clan's roots. The Brujah clan actually started out as philosophers. That's where the free-thinker part comes in. Always questioning the status quo, thinking of new things, philosophising, stuff like that. In the ancient world, their city was Carthage. And they loved that place. So it's really pretty understandable why they hate the Toreador and Ventrue clans now. The Toreador and Ventrue, I don't remember the details right now, I will have to go look them up but I don't want to do that right now, but at any rate, they got into a war and that war happened to be in or over Carthage. And of course, Carthage got a little bit destroyed. But a lot of the Brujah don't really know about this, because most Brujah now are the gangbanger type anymore. So their sires probably didn't even think to tell them about it, because maybe they didn't care. But there do remain some Brujah who remember Carthage; unfortunately, they're rare. Too bad, because I think it'd be interesting to meet one.

So anyway, I was thinking about this last night for some reason, and I was thinking that since there's character ideas in the clanbooks, maybe I should come up with some. Because I was also thinking that I am so messed up that I could play any of the basic seven Cam clans as myself and have it be accurate. Yes, that's how weird I am. So anyway, I have a few here now, and what I've tried to do is make ones that aren't really typical. I was creative. Scary, huh?
