Many do and many don't, some will keep them, others won't. What are they? They're New Year's Resolutions, and we asked the community leaders in Vienna to share theirs with us and with you. Some were funny, some were serious, at least one even rhymed! So, without further ado --
Smaug -- I will devote more time to homesteaders, mainly through the use of chat, because this is the best way to stay in touch with them.
Connie Sunday
1. To be grateful for what I have and resolve to be happy

interests
3. Work out more, meditate longer
4. Get more involved in Buddhist and Animal Rights activities
Community Coordinator Laura
1. To solve world hunger
2. Bring peace to the world
3. Be happy & make others happy

5. Spend more time with friends & family

My millennium resolution is trying to find a way to live without teeth (I hate spending all my money fixing them and I could get used to eating out of tubes).
Keith K. Klassiks
1. Stop procrastinating. This is probably the first time I'm putting a resolution in words, and the only reason is a deadline. I'm starting to think I missed it, but then again, it's a good change from no resolution at all.
2. Improve my typing. Sure, I type pretty fast, but then I use up to only four fingers. The typos that the spell-checker keeps finding (or misses) are hardly desired either.
3. Write a short story, and put all those poems on paper. The pile of drafts I have can't wait forever.
4. Do something positive with the space on my site. It needs a revamp, doesn't it?
5. Think twice! Some say that resolutions are made to be broken, and it wouldn't really hurt to maintain the status quo, would it? =)
Melissa Ratcliff
My resolution is to not be living in Edmonton by this time next year.
Ben Chiu
1. To get more money in my current job :P
2. To pass Uni (half kidding)
3. To perform either the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto 3 or Gershwin's
Rhapsody in Blue by the end of next year
4. To dedicate myself to my other half
5. To have REAL fun!
Ashlee Betteridge
1. To do my assignments early, not the night before :)
2. To try to remember to wear sunscreen all summer so
I don't get some deadly skin cancer, and to avoid
looking like a lobster!
3. To donate some money to a charity every month.
4. To handwash my ballet tights and not put them in
the tumble dryer, because they don't like it at all!
Michael
1. Get a job. College life is expensive...
2. Actually GO to class for once.
3. Study.
4. Did I mention get a job?
Marg
1. I promise to do my best to honour God, the Queen and my Country, and
help people whenever I can....ooops that's the Girl Guide Pledge. I promise
to do my best to honour Yahoo!Geocities, my community coordinator, and
liasons, and help netizens whenever I can.
2. I hope to help the advancement of music and the other arts on the web, by
encouraging those with talents/creations to display them on their sites,
helping them to be able to do that, and rewarding those who already have.
3. To learn as much as I can about website creation, including such things
as java.
4. To try to, occasionally, share the computer with other members of my
family, especially when my favourite TV shows are on.
Jen
1) That my family stay healthy and happy
2) That this coming year finally brings a resolution to the
POW/MIA families waiting for answers about their loved ones.
Lori
1. Perform in an exemplary manner for my Naval
Reserve drills, and provide leadership, guidance, and
bring a positive attitude to the team.
2. Get in more time to monitor homesteads and submit
reports more often. Due to recent job changes, I
haven't had time to get things together on a regular
schedule, but hopefully that will settle down in the
next few months.
3. Try and make others' work, as well as mine, more
enjoyable, be it by telling a joke a day, or just
trying to make them laugh while relating daily
occurences. I have found that the job goes better and
the thought of the stresss and frustration level
diminishes when there is some kind of motivation
tactic.
4. Make MORE money!!!! Not greedy mind you :-)
Steve
I resolve never to use the "Y" (Y2K) word again!
Stephane

boring stuff one HAS to eat.
2. Start meditating again before
life/work/people-who-stay-in-front-of-the-automatic-money-dispenser-after-they-are-finished/more
human stupidity/etc turn my brain into more mush or turn me into one of
"them"!
3. Go more often to people that impress me, meet them for some coffee and
absorb their beauty through conversation to accumulate more of life's many
perspectives.
Sarah
1. To practice my flute two hours every day
2. To practise piano at least 1 hour a day

5. To go to the gym more often
Lauren
1. To exercise more (doesn't everyone have this one? lol)
2. To keep advancing my musical abilities
3. To keep studying hard to keep up my GPA (grade point average)
4. To keep in touch with old friends as well as new
5. To help out around the house more (Mom can't do it all, after
all...hehehe)
Paul Huang

If I keep only one, I like best number two

Hey, that was fun, wasn't it? Why not tell us some of your resolutions, either in our guestbook or in the Konzerthaus Cafe (link at the top of the page). We'd love to hear them, and maybe some others would get a kick out of reading them, too. I know we must have some doozies out there! =]
