Remembering my first year as a VCL By Benedict Chiu | musakmaster@oocities.com | Homepage
Well, it’s been an extremely busy period for all of us Vienna CLs, and especially myself. So I thought I’d do a little introspection on my first year. If you’ve read my infamous initial interview with Robert, you will have noticed that I didn’t include a pic. Well, for everyone’s benefit, *grumble* here’s a most recent pic. Sorry I don’t have the one with my girlfriend. It was taken at the Monash Uni Commerce ball (and it still hasn’t dropped into my hot little hands yet… sorry Robert! LOL). This one was taken in April of this year. Hope THAT’S recent enough *grin* Anyway, since that interview from last year, plenty has changed…. 1. I’m no longer known as Googly-Eyes (from SiliconValley)…. I’m now also known as Deckard in SouthBeach (where I’m involved in five teams and am busy as a one-legged kangaroo in a jumping contest). 2. My vocation has switched. I’m now studying Bachelor of Commerce/Economics at Monash University, with a view to major in Econometrics and Management, minoring in music (of course!). 3. I’m currently on a self-imposed 12-month break from piano. Why? Burnout. Enough said. 4. The web design tips page is now held somewhere inside my SouthBeach site at http://www.oocities.org/SouthBeach/Canal/3200. Sorry to all those looking for the page. It’s still there. :o) 5. And of course, plenty has changed in Vienna itself. Enough said. Here at Geo now, I’m officially in the following: Vienna: Forum Leader Phooey. You can see why I’ve been busy. :o) How’s my first year as a CL been? It’s been pretty great. Everyone at Vienna is friendly, cheerful. Plenty of Aussies to talk to (special Hi to Ashlee and Katie! *grin*), make plenty of friends, etc. etc. Great fun. Unfortunately, I’ve run into the rare, but occasional bad page in Vienna (while block scanning) that has deteriorated the character of our neighborhood. If you see such a site, PLEASE do not hesitate to contact one of us CLs through the Vienna/leader.html page and we will have the site removed immediately. I can guess that some of you are wondering what are the advantages of being a CL. Let’s see now, how about: Disadvantages? Not many, except that you MUST give a time commitment to block scanning, answering questions, helping out on teams, etc, etc. But any time commitment of an hour or above each day is appreciated. Who knows what can happen if you become a CL? :o) So if you’re interested in becoming a CL (and the more the merrier!), then drop by the Resource page and sign up (or, if you’re just the one-click-person type, click here). Who knows, you may even get me as your mentor to help you along! :o) That’s about it for now. See ya next time, folks! Cheers B.C. |
