Congratulations to Albert van Bergen for correctly identifying last month's tune as part of Mozart's Requiem. Bergen also related some of the information available in this month's Background Sound, as well as the fact that Mozart's student Sussmeyer, to whom Mozart explained how to finish the piece, later became a successful composer of Singspiele. Congratulations, Albert.
This month's "Tune" was sequenced by Virtual Vienna resident Bill Kibler, "The PinWiz," and is used with permission. It is part of a six-movement work by a young composer in his early twenties as an expression of his emotions at the departure of his brother, who was entering the army of King Charles XII of Sweden as an oboist. As an added bonus, Bill is offering the complete work, sent by email, to the first 10 respondents who correctly identify the composer and the work.
These are sets of two. Decipher the composer's scrambled last name and a term normally associated with that composer. Capitalize the first letter. Give up? Click "Help" and the answer will appear.
