Midi Sampler

If you are, at this point, thinking, "What the heck is Midi?" then click here to find out.

Most of the MIDI files on my Composition Catalog pages are just short samples to give you an idea of what each piece sounds like. The instrumentation is kept simple to accomodate differing MIDI hardware and software (what may sound good on my system may not sound good on yours!). On this page, I am including some more extensive MIDI files for your listening amusement and amazement. Enjoy!

Note: Some of these appear in other places in this site.

Baroque-style pieces work well on MIDI, or any other electronic medium (just ask Walter/Wendy Carlos!). Here are a few Baroque-style pieces of my own:

Click here for the Prelude and Fugue in C.

Click here for the Prelude and Fugue in E minor.

Click here for the Fugue in G.

Click here for the Prelude in A minor.

Click here for the Prelude from the Notebook for Cherise, book 4.

If you like this kind of music, there's more here. Otherwise, see below.

Tired of hearing Baroque music? Good, so am I. Here are a couple of pieces in a more Romantic vein:

Click here for Remember, a memorial piece for my father.

Click here for the Bolero in A minor.

Click here for the Sarabande in G.

Click here for the Capriccio in G minor.

Click here for the Prelude in D minor.

How about some music in the Viennese Classical style? (For the musically declined: That's like Mozart.) Here is a sonata I wrote for flute and string trio.

  1. First movement

  2. Second movement

  3. Third movement

Okay, so maybe you're not a Classical or Romantic fan. Try some Anomalous Opera.

If you took all the minuets I've written and placed them end to end, they would stretch to the moon and back-- five times! (According to a recent government study. Your tax dollars at work, ladies and gentlemen!) And so, without further ado, here's a:

    Mess O' Minuets!

    Minuet 1 *Minuet 2 *Minuet 3 *Minuet 4 *Minuet 5 *Minuet 6 *Minuet 7 *Minuet 8 *Minuet 9 *Minuet 10

Here are some arrangements of sacred hymns. Some of them are, um... less conventional than others.

Click here for When the Saints Come Marching In (written in memory of Carleen Bodden).

Click here for A Mighty Fortress.

Click here for Songs of Thankfulness and Praise.

Click here for a Chorale Prelude on Victimae Pascali Laudes.

Click here for The Glory of These Forty Days.

Click here for Ah, Holy Jesus.

Check back, I will be adding more!
