Born on 7th January 1933 at Shobra district in Cairo. She appeared for the first time on cinema when Mohammed Fawzy discovered and introduced her in his film "a Cigarette and a glass".

In 1954 she left for France where she participated in a concert for new talets. Among the attendants was Mr. Lucian Maurice director of Europe Broadcast, the widest broadcast in France at the time. Mr. Maurice had decided, then, to sign a contract with Dalida and from there, her universal fame had started.

Her First song was "Bambino" for which she was awarded the golden record During the 60's, she became one of the most famous singers of the songs were best sellers to the extent that one of her songs had sold 120 million records.

By the early 70's, after realising the change in taste of the audience , Dalida managed to innovate her artistic style by approaching the best dancing trainer in America who put her on strict exercises that helped her later in her concerts.She had earned a tremendous success and her artrstic account had reached 400 song in French, 200 Italian, another 200 in German, Spariish, Greek and Arabic.
Dalida's first stage from 1956 to 1961, was the stage of continuous success by all means psychologically, financially and artistically. At this stage, she won the golden record. Her songs "chaoa - Chao" and "Comprends - mois" were best sellers.

The second stage of Dalida's life started in 1961 and ended in 1966 by psychological deteriration after her husband's death. Despite her developing some health problems, yet her artistic success proceeded.
The third stage, from 1976 to 1971, witnessed major problems in sonal life. Her first trial of suicide was in 1976.
In May 1987, Dalida had decided to end her life by committing sicide . She took a big dose of sleeping pills and left a message saying "forgive me my life has become unbearable" .

France has erected a statue of her in one of its main squares. So she became the third lady in France to have a statue for long memory after Jean D'Arc and Sara Bernard. Also, the municipality of France has called the district where she lived after her name.
Dalida had won many awards:
In 1975, she won the award of the Academy of France For her song "I turned 18" the Oscar of Monte Carlo's Broadcast for 5 times; the International Record Oscar 1974. She was also honoured by several countries.
