Billiards evolved sometime during the 15th century in Northern Europe and most probably in France.

As the game became more popular, and betting on horse racing became extremely popular, pool tables were put into these betting 'rooms' to give the people something to do while waiting for their race results. This is when the term "Pool Hall" came into being and the undesirable reputation occurred. As time went on, the game of billiards became SO popular that it became quite a passtime for the 'genteel' class. Modern day billiards is still a wonderful passtime causing many Billiards Clubs to be formed. So glad you stopped by.
