    LITTLE KNOWN FACTS

  • 1. At 140 minutes, this is the longest 007 movie.
  • 2. Lazenby was determined to get the role of Bond. He spent most of his money on a Saville Row suit, a Rolex watch, and while getting a Bond haircut, producer Broccoli walked into the same salon, make the connection, and gave him the part.
  • 3. Blofeld's HQ was a partially completed restaurant on top of Mount Shilthorn. The owners allowed filming if they were paid $125,000 to refit the interior and build a helicopter pad. When the restaurant opened, it was named Piz Gloria, as it was in the film.
  • 4. Lazenby and Rigg were rumored to have a bad relationship on the set. One of the more stupid suggestions made was that before a love scene, Rigg ate garlic.
  • 5. Lazenby was originally offered a three picture deal, but after the movie bombed, he rejected the contract, guessing that being associated with a series with no commercial future would harm his career.
