Chapter I
The Unforgotten Battle
How did you like the first chapter? Wasn't it good? This is a long chapter, so don't worry. The others won't have you scrolling down and down and down and down and down....
Tammy slipped out of bed and slid into her slippers, which were a fuzzy yellow with little Pikachu ears sticking out. She stood straight up and stretched. She stretched her arms into the air and yawned. She then stretched her arms out to the side. She scratched her arm and yawned again. Saturday was usually a day she slept in, but this morning she had her alarm go off because of the big competition going on that day at the Dogwild Arena. She lived in Asher’s City and competitions were hardly ever held there, so this day was an exciting one. We begin the story with Tammy, an 11-year-old girl. She has brown hair and green eyes. Her favorite color is orange because it reminds her of fire, and fire Pokemon are her favorite kind. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When she was a little girl, maybe about five, she fell into a ditch. Not too deep really, but for a little girl it was. Now, this would be fine, since her father had seen her fall in. She was sure he was going to get her out. She had to wait for her dad. After a while she heard her dad yelling. “Tammy! Tammy!” he had cried. This was a yell of calmness, as if he was giving a command. “Here, Daddy!” Tammy had yelled back. She was starting to cry. “Tammy!” she heard her father yell out one more time. “Hang on, Tammy!” Then, suddenly, there was a sharp growl. It sounded angry and disturbed. Her father, being a Pokemon Trainer, had instinctively thrown out a pokeball. Now it was up to her father’s unbeaten Arcanine against whatever it was that was growling. Tammy knew that Arcanine could beat any Pokemon. Up above the ditch a battle had started. Tammy’s father had thrown out his Arcanine to battle. Arcanine was a very powerful Pokemon. He was a perfect battler in his time, but lately he had been slouching around, becoming the family pet. He hadn’t had much workout or exercise and wasn’t in too good of a shape. He was getting in old, and he wasn’t too active. Yet, her father still believed in him. “Arcanine, Flamethrower!” her dad ordered. Arcanine jumped to his feet and opened his mouth. Flames started to burst out at a rapid speed. They spilled out and billowed. They shot right at the defending Pokemon, but that Pokemon, whatever it was, just darted away from the flames. It then attacked with, what looked like a Quick Attack. It ran quickly and disappeared out of sight. Arcanine moved forward a bit. He held his head up high and started to sniff. He jerked backward. Just as he did, the strange Pokemon appeared behind him and slammed into him. Down below, Tammy was starting to cry harder. She had no idea what was going on, but had a strange feeling Arcanine was losing. She sat down and held her knees up to her chin. Up above, Arcanine got slammed into the ground. Rocks scattered and dust flew up, blinding Tammy’s father. He coughed a bit, but he still kept going on. Arcanine too kept going. He quickly got up and growled. “Arcanine, Quick Attack!” her dad ordered. Arcanine darted ahead and pounced at the Pokemon. The mysterious Pokemon, though, just jumped away. This led Arcanine straight into the ground, and on the ground was a sharp rock jutted out. Luckily, Arcanine turned his head away and pulled himself into a ball. The rock caught him and cut a large gash into Arcanine’s back. Arcanine’s beautiful fur was now torn away and parts were dampened with blood. This was a horror to Tammy’s father and Arcanine. He slowly got up and staggered to his feet. “Arcanine!” her father yelled. But no sooner had he said this, the strange Pokemon flew forward and bit Arcanine and the neck and scratched at his muzzle. This left Arcanine in the worst condition in his whole life. “Arcanine, are you okay?” “ARK!” Arcanine yelped in pain. He staggered to his owner and put his muzzle on his shoulder. About twelve scratches had been put onto his muzzle. They were all red and swollen. The mysterious Pokemon grunted and turned around. Now he faced the ditch with Tammy in it. Tammy’s father was frightened. There was a sudden weight on his shoulder. He didn’t notice it and stepped forward to try and stop the Pokemon. As he stepped forward, a huge collapse was sounded behind him. Before he could speak he looked behind him. There, on the ground, was a large beast, bleeding and wounded from battle. It looked tattered and torn and weak. Tammy’s father rushed to Arcanine. He held his muzzle in his hand and looked into Arcanine’s eyes. ‘Help’ is what they were saying. Tammy’s father took out his pokeball and held it out so Arcanine would return to his ball. “Arcanine, return now!” he commanded. Arcanine looked at him and growled. “What?” Tammy’s father said in disbelief. He held the ball out, still. Arcanine closed his eyes and whined as loud as he could, which really wasn’t very loud. He then stopped and looked at Tammy’s father. Tammy’s father sighed. Arcanine had just refused to get back into his pokeball. How could he? He had never done so before. What was going on? Tammy’s father looked back at the mysterious Pokemon by the ditch. It was sniffing the air curiously. Then it looked down into the ditch. It again sniffed curiously at the air. “Daddy!” Tammy yelled. She was crying and shaking. She lifted her head and saw the strange Pokemon looking down at her. She stopped crying as soon as she saw it. She started to stand up. After she was up she walked to the wall of the ditch and looked straight up at the Pokemon. She held her arms out and tried to reach for the Pokemon’s muzzle. Quickly, the Pokemon jumped down into the ditch. “Tammy! Hang on, Tammy!” her father yelled. The Pokemon landed behind Tammy. This startled her somewhat, but she turned around and looked at the Pokemon. She still didn’t cry. Was this the Pokemon that beat Arcanine? It must’ve been. It didn’t look mean. In fact, it looked very kind to Tammy. She started to walk toward it. Her father looked over the ledge of the ditch and saw her walking toward the Pokemon. “Daddy!” Tammy smiled. “Tammy, stay away!” her father warned. He couldn’t reach her. Tammy still walked toward the Pokemon. Tammy’s father took his bag off his shoulder and put it on the ground next to him. This bag contained all his Pokemon items like pokeballs and food. He tried to reach for Tammy again but still couldn’t reach. “Pokemon!” Tammy said calmly as she was about 3 feet away from the Pokemon. Then, she took a couple steps forward and reached out to pet it. She touched its muzzle and stroked its back. It was as tall as she was, and being the kind of adventurer she was she started to climb onto its back. The Pokemon looked at her and snuffed. Soon, she was on the Pokemon’s back laughing. The Pokemon turned its head forward and stepped forward. “Tammy! Tammy! Hang on! Be careful! Oh, please stop!” Her father kept on yelling. He waved his arms and tried to reach for her once more. Still he could not reach her. The Pokemon started to go in a circle in the ditch, like on a ride. Tammy kept on laughing. The Pokemon started to trot a bit. This made Tammy even happier. Soon, the Pokemon started to go quicker and quicker. Then it slowed down making sure Tammy was all right. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tammy yawned once more and headed to her closet. The competition started early and she had to be ready earlier because she was one of the competitors. She took out her jeans with little press ons of fire Pokemon. Then she took out a hanger with an orange shirt on it. After choosing those out, she took out her blue fleece vest. After getting dressed she decided to get her Pokemon ready for the competitions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After slowing down the Pokemon stared up at Tammy’s father. It backed up and jumped up out of the ditch. It landed safely and crouched down to let Tammy off. Before leaving the Pokemon’s side she hugged its powerful neck. In return the Pokemon licked her cheeks. Tammy laughed. Her father grabbed her arm and pulled her far away. She started to whine, but she stopped when her father frowned at her. What had she done wrong? “Stay away, beast!” he yelled out to the Pokemon. Tammy turned around and walked over to her father’s bag. As she was about to open it she heard a faint moan. She looked up and saw Arcanine still lying there. She gasped and walked over to his side. She saw the large gash and frowned. She walked back over to the bag and pulled it over to Arcanine. She started to search through it. Maybe her father had some potions in it. She found a bottle and took it out. On the front label it said ‘Pokemon Potion: Heal you Pokemon!’ She took it and sprayed it onto Arcanine’s wounds. Arcanine flinched but stayed where he was. “Good Arcanine!” she said smiling. She put the potion away and saw that Arcanine wasn’t moaning anymore. His wounds weren’t swollen and red and his large gash stopped bleeding. He got up on his front feet and licked Tammy’s face. Tammy laughed again. “You’re welcome!” Her father was yelling at the Pokemon and hadn’t realized Arcanine was sitting up. “Get away! Don’t touch my daughter!” he kept on yelling. Tammy looked in the bag and took out Arcanine’s pokeball. “In?” she asked. Arcanine licked her face one more time and retreated into his pokeball. “Good Arcanine!” She then put it back and took out an empty pokeball. She glanced back at her father who was starting to walk toward the Pokemon. She saw the expression on the Pokemon start to grow angry. She held the empty pokeball in her hand. She knew the Pokemon was going to hurt her father if he got too close. She quickly ran toward the Pokemon and copying what her father did before she threw the pokeball at it. “Pokeball, go!” she said happily. Her father was dumbfounded and stared at Tammy. Then he shifted his glance to the pokeball. It had hit the Pokemon and had captured it inside, but did she capture it for real? The little ball wiggled again and again. Finally, it binged. Her father started to smile and Tammy ran toward the ball. She picked it up and cheered. “Tammy,” her father started. He couldn’t end his sentence though. “I got a Pokemon! I have a Pokemon! I have my first Pokemon!” she cheered on and on. She jumped up and down and smiled. She had gotten her first Pokemon. “Go, pokeball!” she said as she threw the ball out to admire her new Pokemon. It was about 4 feet and 10 inches. It had sleek black fur and its eyes were a shimmering amber color. Its feet were padded and the claws were large and sharp. Silver cuffs came right before the feet and separated the feet from the rest of the legs. The tail was long and at the end was a pointed arrow. The muzzle was long and narrow and it had large silver horns out of its head. They curved backwards. The back was rippled by little ridges of silver that formed semi-rings. On its chest was a medium sized silver spot. “Houooooooooooooo!” it howled. It raised its head toward the sky and howled again. Then it lowered its head again. Tammy walked over to him and hugged him again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tammy walked outside. To her left was the village training arena. It was just for Pokemon trainers who wanted to train their Pokemon for big competitions or battles. She decided that would be the best place to go before the competition begun. It started at 12:00, but you had to be there at 10:00 because of the big ceremony before the beginning of it. She headed left down the sidewalk. She glanced at her watch. It said 8:37 am. She gasped and started to sprint down the sidewalk to the arena. After a minute she got there. She breathed heavily when she got there. She stood before the entrance. High on the wall of the building was “Asher’s Training Arena” in golden letters. She started to walk inside. The automatic doors slid open and she went in. The first floor was quiet and clean. At the front desk a lady with square glasses was reading a paper. The desk was a large one made out of dark wood. On the top of it there was a little ‘ring for service’ bell. She walked over and waited for a second. The woman looked up at her and smiled. “Hello! May I train here, ma’am?” Tammy asked. “Yes, you may, darling. First you must sign up. It is part of our new policy,” she added. She handed Tammy a form and a pen. “Is it free?” asked Tammy curiously. “Oh yes, of course!” answered the lady. A minute went by and Tammy handed the pen and form back to the lady. She skimmed the form. “Tamara Dicks is it?” she asked. “Yes ma’am!” Tammy agreed. “Okay, you may have this membership card and you can come back anytime now,” said the woman. She handed Tammy a card and continued reading the paper. Tammy took the card and stuck it in her pocket. Then she continued on into the elevator. The doors closed and she pressed the button that said L3. Level three was the obstacle courses. This was a very useful floor for Tammy. She again glanced at her watch. It said 8:45 pm. Everything was going fine so far. The elevator dinged and the doors opened. She walked out of it into a loud, full room of different things. Currently a boy was training with his Raichu. He started the stop watch and darted forward with his Raichu. The point of the obstacle course was to get you and your Pokemon to be a better team together. The Raichu darted off, also. The first thing was the tires. The boy started and the Raichu followed. He jumped in each one and out of them. His Raichu followed. His Raichu took head now. The following thing was the hurdles. The Raichu jumped over the first one perfectly. The boy jumped over it, too. She decided to go to another obstacle course and practice there. She walked past the one the boy was practicing on. Then she spotted on that was closed off from the others. It had no people in it. Tammy had never used this course before. She thought she was going to try. She walked over to the starting line and took a pokeball out. She threw it on the ground and a large, black Pokemon came out. “Alright Houndoom! We should be able to do this course in a minute if we hurry. Come on, boy!” Tammy told the Pokemon. The course started out with a large puddle. Then it continued with tires. The hoops followed and climbing came after the hoops. After the climbing was a shallow ditch, and then the finish line came. Tammy took the stop watch and pressed ‘start.’ Her and Houndoom darted off and jumped over the puddle together. Then Houndoom took the lead and jumped through the tires. Tammy came right behind him. Tammy took the lead and jumped through the first hoop. Then Houndoom took the lead and jumped through the second hoop and so on. The next thing was climbing. The wooden wall was 20 feet high. Tammy went first. She started up the wall and clung to the little pieces that jutted out. Houndoom jumped on and started to climb up, also. After they were at the top they started to climb down the other side halfway, then jump. The ditch was close and Houndoom leaped over it. Tammy leaped over it perfectly. They then started to sprint toward the finish line. ZOOM! They passed it in 2 minutes and 12 seconds. “Whoa!” Tammy breathed out. “That was longer than I expected. “But it was very well done!” said a voice. Tammy turned to see who it was. A boy about her age had watched them the whole time. He had brown hair and blue eyes and was wearing blue jeans with a white t-shirt. “You did excellent, really!” he added on. “Oh, thank you!” Tammy answered. She took her vest off because she was hot. She put it on the rack. “That’s a nice Houndoom there. How long have you had him?” the boy asked. “I’ve had this buddy with me for about eight years. We’re the best team.” Tammy wiped her face with a towel. “I see. Well, if you wouldn’t mind, could you stay and see if I can beat you and your Houndoom’s score?” the boy asked. “Sure! Why not?” Tammy and Houndoom went over to the bench and sat down to watch. “Go, Asher!” he said as he threw a pokeball out. Out of it came a large Pokemon. This Pokemon was an Arcanine. “And, go!” he said. They started off and leaped over the puddle. They jumped through the tires and soared through the hoops. They climbed the wall and down again and leaped across the ditch in one nice sweep. He took it in 1 minute and 37 seconds! “Wow! How did you do that?” asked Tammy. She looked at the boy admirably. “Well, anyway, great job, um,” Tammy stopped. “My name is Alex Burnes,” he informed. “Yes! My name is Tamara Dicks. Pleased to meet you!” “Same here. So, you’re training for the competition, eh?” Alex asked. “How did you know?” Tammy asked. “Almost everyone here is. I know I am!” Alex said cheerfully. “You are? Really? Cool! Hey, maybe you can be lucky enough to lose to me!” Tammy joked. She looked at her watch. It now said 9:01 am. She gasped. “I have to go!” she said. She raced out into the elevator. She pressed the button and waited. Alex came up beside her. They both got on and went to the first level. Tammy raced out the doors and onto the sidewalk. Se decided to wait for Alex. He came out and they both started to run quickly to the Dogwild Arena. By the time they got there it was 9:30. Just in time to get ready.
