MY STORY:
Once upon a time I responded to an advertisement in the Knoxville News
Sentinel for a marketing professional. This ad claimed that I would make
$5000 to $10000 a month. When I interviewed for the "job" the
interviewer, John, told me that I was in on a ground floor opportunity
and that I would be GUARANTEED to be made rich if I gave him several thousands
of dollars to automatically promote me to a manager level. (The
fraudulent part about this is that John could of made me a manager without
my having to invest a dime, but then he and his uplines wouldn't have made
a fast buck on my money).
To make a long story short, I invested several thousands
of dollars in this "opportunity" and I got nothing for it except
for a lot of overpriced water filters and vitamins and No money! To make
matters even worse, the company refused to refund all my money. Not to
mention the loss of my time and the loss of friends who I exposed to this
menace.
Not all multi-level marketing schemes are this bad
and someplace, somewhere there might be an honest Equinox Independent Representative.
However, I have an obligation to stop others from falling victim to the
"GET RICH QUICK ... YOU CAN TRUST ME" show that is going on in
our country. That is why I pay for this web page to warn others not to
be a sucker. If you see someone peddling water filters and/or herbs, vitamins,
health products and the like and he is claiming to be an independent contractor
for equinox, Please.... and
spread the word. If you decide to attend, bring a tape recorder or video
camera. Only by exposing what is going on and communicating to others can
we stop what is going on.
FIGHT BACK: DO
YOU FEEL MAD ABOUT HOW YOU HAVE BEEN TREATED. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Here's
a fun thing we do from time to time. Every Tuesday around 7:00 p.m., our
local equinox independent representatives have a meeting. So, periodically
me and a few friends stand on public property next to the street outside
their location and hold up a sign that says:
"If you are coming to the meeting at 7:00 p.m., Stop here first."
Most of the people coming in to the meeting stop and then we set them straight about what is going on inside the equinox independent rep's office. Most folks thank us for opening up their eyes and saving their wallets and turn around and leave. Of course there are a few who curse us for helping our fellow man and we have a good laugh.
Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. Don't give up.... Get Back!

Call your local news stations, police, attorney generals, community activists, and anyone else you can grab. Stand on public property outside the evening meetings and warn others. Post mail on dejanews and other usenet forums about your experience. Prepare a press release and fax it. Just do it.
