BACK TO THE FUTURE with the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce #829

Returning to our tradition, Wednesday, January 21st will concentrate on Economics. Following the dinner seminar organized by good friend Udo Stunder of Crédit Suisse Private Banking, Wednesday Night's topic will be "Investing in 1998, Outlook for Interest Rates, Currencies and Stock Markets Around the World". We also expect to look at the results of the Team Canada Mission to Latin America and other related topics.

No doubt there will be a continuation of our seminar on Hydro Québec!

As mentioned above, the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce Inc. jointly with The Belgium and Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Canada and The Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce are sponsoring a dinner meeting,

Wednesday, the 21st at the Westin Mont-Royal
at 6:00 p.m. for cocktails and 6:30 for dinner.

The speakers will include Martin Barnes, of The Bank Credit Analyst (and Wednesday Nights), Stephen Jarislowsky, Jean-Luc Landry of Bolton Tremblay and Neal M. Soss of Crédit Suisse First Boston (New York). Udo Stundner will serve as Moderator. Wednesday Night will have one, or possibly two tables for the event. Please call David Nicholson if you are interested in joining the Wednesday Night table (cost is $55 per person).

But watch out for the bank economists. Last year at this time, almost all of them predicted the Canadian dollar would rise from 73 to 77 cents U.S. by the end of 1998.
