The storm is Deep River Waterpark's newest Attraction. It was added in 1996. As you can see from the entrance sign here there are 3 slides which are called the Vortex, Abyss, and Cyclone. There are 64 stairs to walk up before you get to the top of the storm and then get to slide down.
I hope you are ready to enter the STORM
In this picture you can see the totally enclosed slide complex the storm. There are 3 separate slides which are totally enclosed. The storm is commonly referred to by guests as the black slides. This picture was taken from the parking lot of Deep River Waterpark on August 23, 1997 when the park lost power and could not open for several hours.
The slide on your left is called the Vortex. It curves a lot. It is the longest of the storm rides. The vortex starts on the left up top but by the time you curve around you end up in the center of the splash pool. In the middle you have the Abyss. It is a very quick ride a short drop. If you see long lines on all 3 slides the quickest line will be the one for the Abyss because the ride is very fast. It will thrill you I am sure. In my opinion of all the the 3 storm slides the Abyss is by far the best.
On the right is the Cyclone. The Cyclone in my opinion is the most gentle of the storm slides. It curves around and is slower than the Vortex. It used to be that they only let one rider go on it at a time in 1996. However they changed that rule and now you can ride double on the cyclone. I am glad they finally changed the sign as I asked them to numerous times. Now it says only 2 persons at a time allowed in a double tube. It used to say only 1 person. The thing to look out for on this slide is just as you exit there is a bump that you go up in the air.
This photo was taken during the 1996 from the bottom of the storm In it you can see the complex and a good picture of the Vortex on the left and the Abyss in the Center. If that girl would move out of the way you could see the Cyclone as well
