Deep River Waterpark is open from May 26, 2000 until September 4, 2000. The park will be closed from August 21, 2000 until August 25, 2000 but will reopen on August 26 and 27. It will then close from August 28, 2000 until August 31, 2000. It will reopen one last time for the Labor Day weekend from September 2 until Labor Day September 5, 2000.
The park hours are from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. everday except Tuesday when the park is open from 10 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. The Tubin Tuesdays begin on June 13, 2000 and end on August 15, 2000. In total there are 10 Tubin Tuesdays
Deep River Waterpark is located at 9001 East US Highway 30. It is 4.5 miles of I-65. You simply take the Valparaiso exit as if you are going to the Southlake Mall. The Waterpark is on the same side of the street as the mall.
There are many benefits to living in Indiana one of them is if you are from Indiana and prove it at the gate you receive a $1.25 off the regular admission price. Regular Admission is as follow:
Before 2:00 p.m. $12.00 therefore Indiana Residents pay $10.75
After 2:00 p.m. $10.00 therefore Indiana Residents pay a mere $8.75
If you are under 46 inches the rate is $5.25 before or after 2:00 p.m.
Just want to watch? Spectator admission is $6.25 at all times
Children 12 months and under are admitted free.
Tubin Tuesdays which are from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. are a mere $5.00 and are from June 13, 2000 until August 15, 2000.
These Rates are for individuals later on this page you will find group rates. Why not bring a bus load of people to Indiana's Premiere Waterpark Deep River Waterpark of course.
In this author's opinion the best time to come is Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. The reason for this is for $10.00 you can stay over 7 hours which is a mere $1.43 an hour. The normal cost if you stay all day is $1.50 an hour. If you are from Indiana the cost is even less if you come after 2 on Tuesday your cost is a mere $1.25 an hour if you stay for 7 hours. The one complaint I here often about the park is it is not open late enough. If you come on Tuesday you can stay longer because the park does not close until 9:30 p.m. on these nights. How can you beat a $1.25 an hour for a splashtastic time. In addition according to my sister who is a registered nurse the suns intensity is greatest between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. so you will avoid that period of time. Another reason I feel Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. is the best time to come is there usually is a substantial number of people who leave later in the day like starting at 4:00 or 4:30 so lines get shorter as groups that have come on their bus leave. If you don't want to stay for a long time the best time to come is on Tubin Tuesdays 3 hours 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. for a mere $5.00 and that price hasn't increased in 6 years for a short stay it is your best bet. Tubin Tuesdays are from June 13 until August 15. Other good days to come Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday of course anytime you want to come to Indiana's Premiere Waterpark you should.
Can I bring my own food into the park ?
There are many places that you can eat at Deep River Waterpark including the sandwich shop located near the Dragon where Mark T. always has his lunch. There is also a taco and nacho stand located there. There is a surfside cafe near the entrance of the park which serves hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza and other things. There is Milo's Sweet Shop which is for those of you with the sweet tooth. Then there is a hot dog stand located near the lazy river and by the hot dog stand you will find a lemonade cart and my personal favorite that I want kept there the hot soft pretzel cart. You can purchase food at any of these places. If you would rather not yes you can bring your own food into the park. There however is no glass or alcohol allowed in the park and your bags and coolers will be checked so don't try. The most common occurance of glass that I see is mayonnaise as it often comes in glass jar. Save everyone some trouble and think before you pack.
I would advise that you either store your stuff safely in the lockers which are $3.00 for a single or $4.00 for a double after 2:00 p.m the price is reduced by a $1.00. Once you have stored the stuff to obtain maximum enjoyment of the park especially if you wish to go in the wave pool you should go near the wave pool and rent a tube. They are $3.00 to rent. Tubes are available free of charge at the tube slide, the lazy river, and storm. However they must stay in the appropriate areas. Blue go to the tube slide, green to the lazy river and orange to the storm. If you have a rented a yellow tube or as some people call them the golden tube you never have to wait in line at any of these rides for a tube. On some busy days you have to wait in line for a tube and then in another line. When you have the gold you can surpass the tube line. The yellow tubes are allowed in every ride that requires a tube which is the storm, tube slide and lazy river. Also only yellow tubes are allowed in the wave pool. If you wish to ride the body slides the fine folks at the tube rental will take your tube and watch it for you. They write your name down and then you can come back at your convenience and pick it up when you need it. This service is included in the rental price and is a very nice service.
Deep River Waterpark as of 1999 is a non smoking facility. You can not smoke in the park. There are ash trays in front of the park along with benches where you are welcome to smoke. All you need to do is make sure you get your hand stamped at the front gate before exiting the park. You can reenter by showing the stamped hand. Yes I am aware that my 2 causes are the fight against child abuse and smokers rights. While there is a lot of water at the park there is also a lot of grass and it does get hot. I am sure no one would like to see the park go up in flames so please smoke responsibly and take it to the designated area. You won't see me out front smoking because I don't want people to know if I smoke or not but if I do my brand is Lucky Strike.
Water Wars is a new game that is only $1.00 for a bucket of water filled balloons. Each bucket contains 6 balloons up to 4 players can play at once. You launch the balloons at your opponent and if you hit them just right they will break and splash your opponent leaving them all wet. It looks like a lot of fun and on this site there will be a picture. In addition, there seem to be many more tables so it is even more comfortable to be at the park. There also is what I am calling a gazebo located at the very end of the dragon so if my future wife doesn't want to climb 64 stairs to marry me on top of the storm maybe she will marry me in the gazebo.
You can see every attraction and read Mark T. Camarena's opinion of it by visiting The Deep River Waterpark Picture Gallery Currently in the gallery the only attractions you will not see are the dragon and water wars. I am working on updating the gallery and the comments for it. The pictures maybe from years gone by but the attractions still look the same only there are even more.
More to come soon.
