The Leading Light of Development

Why other projects have failed

Some of the main reasons for the failure of other projects include :

Inaccessibility
The majority of people living in Soweto is even today still largely dependant on public transport and unless a project is located on a major route, it is very difficult for the majority of people to get to it.
Single-purpose
Due to unemployment, the community seeks value for money and it is not offered to them in any single-purpose facility, implying that they have to travel to various facilities in order to satisfy the needs of the family unit.
Marketing
Marketing remains a huge factor in the failure of other projects
Community Support
Many projects have been perceived by the community as being enforced on them, this causes resentment and results in the community not supporting it. This is probably the biggest single reason for failure of projects.
Located in no-man’s land
A project should be located within the ommunity it is supposed to serve and once it is perceived to be located in no-mans land, with no proper infrastructure surrounding it, such as transport routes, it is doomed to failure
