Italian Somaliland, located in eastern Africa, was a Italian colony from 1885 until 1941 when it was occupied by the British troops. The British administered the colony until 1950 when it became a UN trust territory administered by Italy. Italian Somaliland united with the British Somaliland in 1960 to form the indepedndent Somalia Democratic Republic.
