Australia, located on the continent of the same name, was a British colony until 1900. Became the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. Complete autonomy was formalized by the Statute of Westminster Adoption Act in 1942. It's a member of the British Commonwealth. Australian currency was changed from pounds to dollars in 1966.
