The movers showed up at 8:45am, and were out of here at 10:45am. My dad even came down to give me a ride to get the cats over to the new place. Of course, there were a few glitches - like 'losing' my dad when I went to get back into the car after stopping at the cash machine to pay the movers (he made it to my apartment - turns out he was parked on the opposite side of the bank waiting for me to finish, and I didn't see him:) Aside from a few miscellaneous things that didn't get packed/tossed in time, and my couch, which wouldn't fit through the doorway and is now on the porch, I am moved! I'm not too worried about the couch, since it's old and this gives me an excuse to buy a new one, and how many people can say that they have a sofa on their porch?:) It wouldn't be so bad, if they had at least left the couch on the porch FACING the street:) Then, if I wanted to, I could stretch out on my sofa on the porch and watch the world pass by:)

I ordered a pizza delivery at around 2:30pm:) The first thing I hooked up was the stereo, followed by the modem and the computer:) I'm actually able to put my puter on the computer desk here, instead of sitting on the couch with the laptop on the coffee table, like in the 'old days'. Around 3:30pm, my mom and my younger sister came over with my niece, and stayed for a couple of hours.

I made some progress on the unpacking - my dishes were mostly unpacked, and I threw all the bags of clothes in the closet:) My futon frame was reassembled, and my bed was made, so I could just collapse into it when I finally gave in to exhaustion:)

2 of my 3 cats spent most of the day under the bed, while Zig went out exploring all of the counters and window ledges. Max managed to jump onto the top of the upper kitchen cabinets (I still can't believe he figured that one out:), and Trouble is still getting his bearings. I think they miss the couch:)

This is my first morning at my new place. I slept REALLY well last night - I conked out around 10:30pm, and slept straight through to 6:30am, when my kitties woke me up!:) I didn't even get up during the night to go to the bathroom - I slept 8 hours like a log:) When I woke up, the sun was just coming up too, and when I looked out my bedroom window, the sky was full of pinks and purples. The sun was streaming through all of my 8 or 9 windows as I sat here drinking my coffee, and it was lovely:)

The kitties are right at home, and I think by now, they've found every single place they can possibly jump on:) The favorite spot for Max and Zig seems to be the counter between my livingroom and dining room, which is also right above my puter desk. The other favorite spots so far are under my bed, on top of the kitchen cabinets, and the window next to my puter desk. Zig has already figured out how to open the bottom kitchen cabinets and my bedroom closet (I woke up this morning and it was open, and I KNOW I closed it last night before I went to sleep:)

I planned on going down to the old apartment later this morning, spending a couple of hours there sorting out the remaining junk, then bagging up what I really need/want and tossing the rest out, or just leaving it on the floor as a token of appreciation for my ex-landlord:)

I know it won't be so bad going back, I just don't want to. If it wasn't for some vital necessities that are still down there, like 2 litterboxes, some CDs and tapes, and my vacuum, I don't think I'd bother.

Later today, I made a shopping excursion to Target:) Of course, I forgot to buy a dish drain, which was part of my reason for going there, but I got myself a new Proctor Silex 12-cup coffee maker for $13.99:)
