I Am A Survivor!
Yet, there was a time when that was not the way I felt. I had no self esteem, no pride, to
trust, no love, nothing
I was a battered wife.
I let my ex-husband beat me on a regular basis...I let him! That is so hard to understand
now, and yet so easy at the same time. Many people want to know why I didn't just leave
him before I did. I did. He would always come and get me back with the old promises of
better days yet to come...and never to be.
It took 3 long years for me to get the courage to leave, and then I didn't leave for my own safety
but the safety of my newborn child.
I knew in my heart that if I continued in this relationship someone was going to die.
It was not easy to leave...I lived in fear for a long time. But I am happy to say
that he is no longer a part of my life, and I am no longer afraid of him. His threats are just
threats...I no longer cringe when I see his name, nor do I duck whenever a hand is raised.
It's not an easy thing to do...recovery can last months, years even a lifetime. But You Can
recover.
It takes lots of support though...
