This page I dedicate to those that are being abused and those that are still trying to heal from an abusive relationship. It will help you to know that you are not alone and offer you information and places to go and get the support you need to make your life your own.

        I Am A Survivor!

Yet, there was a time when that was not the way I felt. I had no self esteem, no pride, to trust, no love, nothing
        I was a battered wife.

I let my ex-husband beat me on a regular basis...I let him! That is so hard to understand now, and yet so easy at the same time. Many people want to know why I didn't just leave him before I did. I did. He would always come and get me back with the old promises of better days yet to come...and never to be.
It took 3 long years for me to get the courage to leave, and then I didn't leave for my own safety but the safety of my newborn child. I knew in my heart that if I continued in this relationship someone was going to die. It was not easy to leave...I lived in fear for a long time. But I am happy to say that he is no longer a part of my life, and I am no longer afraid of him. His threats are just threats...I no longer cringe when I see his name, nor do I duck whenever a hand is raised.
It's not an easy thing to do...recovery can last months, years even a lifetime. But You Can recover.
It takes lots of support though...
        ~ Karen
