I once knew two beautiful souls.
One in person, and,
I regret to say, one
Only by legacy and reputation.
One was a child of only 16.
The other a young woman,
Just barely 18.
Both were ministers for
Our Lord in their own right.
They worked together for Him,
Side by side and
Often faced public slights.
One was engaged and just out of school.
The other a treasured daughter
With family and friends
Who loved her true.
The one was run over while riding
In a car with her fiance one day.
The other struck down while she and a 10-
Year old sat in the back seat and prayed.
Both were lost at a very tender age,
With so much work and life
And fun ahead of them.
Why do the innocents
Suffer for the guilty?
The little ones whose lives
Are filled with beauty and plenty?
Why are the children of this world
Forced to pay with their lives,
And futures, for a
Drink someone loves?
Whether that be in a vehicle
Or in a home,
If you drink,
For all our sakes,
Please, Oh please,
Leave the children alone!
