International Web Access- The Tutorial

Step Six - Printing/Saving the Information

This step has three parts to read before you answer the questions
  1. Printing
  2. Saving the address
  3. Downloading

Printing
This is straightforward as long as you scroll down and check how long the document is first because Netscape prints the whole document. It is not possible to choose to print part of a document or page. As well, some webpages will print out with the headings and tables on separate sheets of paper, so it's best to have plenty in your print credit if you want to print from Netscape.

Saving the address
If you find a site you think you will return to often, click on Bookmarks on the menu and then on Add Bookmark. You will then have your own record of the site's address. Each time you click on it in the future, Netscape will go and get a fresh copy of the page for you.

Downloading
Use File then Save As to get a copy of the text on a page. You would have to save the images separately though. However many web pages now include audio and video files and you may be offered software to download too. These are all extremely expensive to download as they are often very large files. You should have a chance to cancel or not accept these sorts of files, but do watch the status bar as any page loads to get a sense of the size of it. You can press STOP to cancel any page that is loading and looks too large.

Questions to answer

  1. How do you save an address in Netscape?

  2. If I use Save As in the File menu, will it save the images too?

  3. What can I do if I have clicked on a link and it looks like a very large file?
