but in my heart the flowers bloom

and I always resisted
my friends always insisted
the fact that I loved you
that our love was true
And I know why, it's so plain
you take away my pain
you make me laugh and smile
make me want to stay awhile
tonight when you leave
I'll sit upstairs awhile
and watch the sky and heave
a sigh and see your smile
in the stars above
they sparkle at the thought of you
because they see the love
which we both know is true
