Ms. Adams sent me the galley for "Annie's Wild Ride" with the closure of her letter hoping that I would enjoy it. Well, I for one, did not want to put it away until I was finished. I was reading at the pool-side, wiping water droplets off the pages as I read, letting my children have some fun, cool time in the water while I was feeling completely enraptured with Annie and her tale. See, sometimes we can have our cake and eat it too!
What a wild story! Anne and Paul Gaasbeck have been competing with each other since day one. For every trophy, award, raise in rank, job assignment, well, you name it, they fought each other for it, and not always fairly. Both being in the Airforce and Anne doing everything she can to make it work for a woman back when women weren't yet easily accepted in the military, is really tough for them. The challenges they face as they realize they want to get married and try to have a relationship while both being active in the military is equally as difficult.
Sadly, the story begins with Anne and Paul already being divorced and Anne having to fly their daughter Amelia home in time to be with Paul for the beginning of his visitation on Christmas Day. During their marital and pre-marital days, Paul and Anne argued, fought, and disagreed about nearly everything. They argued about the details of the divorce decree and who should have visitation rights of their daughter and when as well as their airplane, also called Amelia. This time, Anne is a little bit spiteful and leaves bearly enough time to get to their destination on time. Well, that would have been the case were they not to run into bad weather. So, here you are stranded with Anne and Amelia, who end up with a downed airplane and are struggling to keep themselves alive.
Using every military tactic she knows, Anne does what she has to to keep them alive. She begins talking to Amelia. Amelia asks a lot of questions and here we go on our ride to learn all there is about Anne and Paul Gaasbeck. Good and bad. They are literally fighting for their lives as you turn the pages and delve further into the past of these two stubborn Airforce Officers.
Go along for the wild ride in "Annie's Wild Ride," when it becomes available in August 1998. Alina Adams weaves a compelling story of two people so desperately in love and the lessons they learn in life as they discover old mistakes and new beginnings and just maybe a way to start fresh and find a love that's ever-lasting. . . .
