All of you who want to read an action-packed book shouldn't miss "Shadow and Silk".

Dr. Danielle Warren is an archaeologist and she knows all about antique silk from Asian countries. At the moment she is in Tibet and lives in the mountains together with the original inhabitants because her work in the office was too boring for her. An unknown man wants to sell an old silk banner and because Danielle wants to save it she tries to buy it. She doesn't know that it was stolen from a monastery.

Feng, the man who wants to sell the banner is killed when they meet and Danielle should be next when a man gives her his hand and pulls her on the roof of a house. Here Dani can see a Russian who takes the silk and disappers.

Shane Crowe, the man who saved Dani works for Risk Limited a private security company. This time he should bring the silk back to the real owners, the Azure Monks. But he decided to save the womans life and that means they have to flee out of Tibet. And that isn't easy for them.

When Dani is back in the United States she thinks she will never see Shane again. But the silk still is missed and Risk Limited needs her help. She works with Shane together to solve that case because she thinks it is her guilt that he couldn't bring the banner back to the Monks.

Katja Pilenkowa, the boss of the drug syndicate named Harmony, also needs the banner to control the Asian drug market. She doesn't have any scruples and her partner Ilja Kasatonin is not only her lover he is also her killer.

What a hard task for Dani and Shane. Will they be able to destroy their enemies?

This book is like the other Ann Maxwell books more an adventure novel then a romance book. But this does not mean it isn't a good read even if there are a lot of brutal scenes in the book.
