Eliza is distraught. Why will her father marry her to a "farmer"? He has the title, Earl of Darrin, but he lives in the wilderness of Yorkshire. In Eliza's eyes he is a farmer.
Eliza is a young widow. She was spoiled her whole life long from her father and her husband never contradicted her wishes. She does not want to have such a man as a husband.
The trip to Darrin's Castle is a disaster. At the end, a snow storm force her to spend the night in a run-down house. And who is the owner of the house - Earl of Darrin. Eliza can't believe this. She has to stay with him in the house without any servants. What a terrible situation. She has to cook her food buy herself and the Earl is a sullen man, but on the other side also very attractive.
How long can she stay there and withstand him? And is the Earl really so miserly as it seems?
An interesting story about the taming of a spoiled young wife but without any
surprises.
