All that Andrea wants from her husband is safety, love isn't important to her. That's why she has married Earl of Devbridges, a man that could be her father.
When the couple arrives at the family estate, Andrea learns very fast that her decision to marry was maybe a little hasty. The house is full of mysteries and John, the oldest son of the Earl, attracts her more then she will confess to herself.
After the first assassination attempt on her life she begins to ask herself who could want her dead. The housekeeper, John or Thomas (the Earls other son), Amelia (Thomas wife) or perhaps her husband. What could be the reason?
This was Catherine Coulters first book and in my eyes it wasn't bad. I had much
more fun while reading this then one of her latest books.

What's hidden at Rosehaven??? This is delightful story takes place in medieval England, 1277. Here you will meet Hastings of Trent and Severign of Langthorne.
Hastings is an heiress who's arranged marriage to Severign frightens her. He appears to be a man capable of cruelty, but how could a man who travels with a marten under his tunic be cruel? What is a marten? It is a sable, a weasel. He is an adorable pet.
This is a sweeping medieval adventure that is rich in characters such as Gilbert the goat and Alfred the Healer's cat. And, of course, Trist the marten.
It's a wonderful story that is full of mystery and sensuality. The plots are
interesting and the love that grows between Hastings and Severign is quite
enjoyable. Another winner for Catherine Coulter!

The only reason for buying this book is that I read the two other books in the series "The Wyndham Legacy" and "The Nightingale Legacy." I read "Wyndham Legacy" in 1995 and this might be the reason why I had problems with the persons Badgar, Spears, Sampson, and Maggie in the book. I can't remember them and they are an important part of the story.
Jessie Warfield, jockey at her father's stud farm, is an in-dependent woman. In the 19th century, a female jockey in America is still an exception. She dresses like a man and often defeats her worst rival, James Wyndham. Jessie and James fight like cats and dogs.
One day (Jessie tries to prevent a marriage between her sister Glenda and James) she drops out of a tree, landing on top of James, and now she is "ruined".
Jessie has loved James since she was 14 but he doesn't know. She doesn't want to marry him in that way and runs away to England, to James's cousin Marcus and Duchess Wyndham (the characters from "Wyndham Legacy"). There she becomes the nanny of their children.
James arrives in England to find Jessie. He is totally confused. Who is this beautiful young woman, his Jessie? She has undergone a transformation from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. She dress like a woman should dress and tames her red hair. James has met a new Jessie.
Which does he like more, the old or the new Jessie? Will he do the right thing and marry her? What about Jessie's terrible nightmares?
In the following story they have to solve a mystery and find a treasure. An
interesting story for all Coulter fans who want to read more about Marcus and
Duchess. Sometimes I was not sure if it was only a continuation to their story.
