Historical
I was looking for a few unusual books and this is the reason why I bought "My Seaswept Heart". But this pirate story is not better than average.
On an isle in the Caribban lives a group of people in a so called democratic way. Their idyllic "paradise" was destroyed when the cruel pirate d'Porteau attacks their little colony. He had killed a lot of people, destroyed the houses and Anne, the niece of the governeur, was nearly raped. Anne wants revenge and that's why she asks pirate Jamie McQuaid for help. Jamie doesn't want to do something good without payment so Anne wants to pay him with jewels if he helps her.
Anne didn't tell him that d'Porteau had stolen her jewels. So she dress up as a boy and becomes a member of his crew. Her disguise will be uncovered when little Joe is beaten up by a cruel member of the crew. Jamie recognize who "Andy" really is. A short time later they meet d'Porteau and they start to fight.
Jamie is betrayed by his crew and so d'Porteau captures him. He abandons Jamie in a little boat on the ocean only with Anne as his company. Will they be able to survive and get their revenge?
The idea of a heroine who dresses like a boy and hides on the ship of
the hero isn't new. That's why I'am sure you know how all will end like I
did before I finished the book.
