Lord Michael DeWinter is looking for his missing father, Duke Raile DeWinter. On the trip to Egypt he meets Mallory Stanhope on the ship.
For many years Mallory has been living with her aunt in England while her parents travel around the world. Now she is on the way to be with them because she has no future in England.
Michael and Mallory dispute from the first moment they meet. On the ship Michael saves the life of one of the passengers. In Kairo, Mallory finds out that her parents did not get her letter and have gone on a trip. She stays alone with a few servants in their house.
Michael tries to find out what happened to his father. One evening he is attacked by a stranger and is hurt by a knife. He reaches Mallory's house before he faints. Mallory nurses him back to health. After his recovery he accompanies some Egyptians into the desert. They promise him that they know where his father is. The strange men do not intend to take him to Duke Raile. He is set free by another Egyptian. Then he finds out that the man who's life he saved on the ship is a prince. Michael starts a new life in this town, Kamar Ginena, with the prince. He learns to fight and to kill.
After many weeks, Mallory is still alone in her parents house. She ends up being kidnaped by the same men who kidnaped Lord Michael's father. Meanwhile, Michael becomes a great fighter. He sets her free from the hand of the kidnapper.
Because Mallory is ruined and Michael is afraid of losing his life in the great fight where he wants to set free his father they get married. Michael hopes that his family name will continue on, therefore he wants a son from Mallory.
The story is an interesting one to read. Only the long introduction of the story
disturbed me a little. The love story does not start until nearly the end of the
book.
