Joanna Winterton leaves London to relax in Grasmere, Lake District. After the death of her fiancé all the people pity her and that gets on her nerves because she is so relieved that she doesn't have to marry him.

Sir Lucas Montford also wants to enjoy the quietness of Grasmere. His bride left him on the day of their marriage. He wants to forget this disgrace.

Joanna is an unconventional and humorous young woman. That attracts Sir Lucas and he thinks flirting with her could be quite a diversion.

Between both the sparks fly. Sir Lucas becomes Joannas lifesaver in more than one situation. But will he also win her love and become an abandoned rake?

A funny story full of mystery and humor. I really enjoyed it.
